It’s noticeable how many of the ‘worst players’ were from when we were in the National League, yet with the odd exception such as Rainford you rarely see players named from our years playing lower down than that. Well we won three league titles back to back, twice(?) finishing on over 100 points after the club had gone bust. They were the best years I’ve ever had as a Chester fan & I’m nearly 40.

Momentum and excellent morale, management team etc played a massive part. Some of the more limited players, who you could probably tell wouldn't make it in the professional game, were consistent performers. Shows in our record breaking National League North season - most of those players knew they couldn't commit/wouldn't be kept on for the league above and still went on to create records that still stand 11 years later.

That goat fucker Gareth Evans is hands down the worst player to ever put a shirt in for us. Abused him from the off and luckily he left after only a few games

Kamu Laird. Can't seem to remember if he actually played a game for us. How can you say he was the worst player if then you can't remember if he actually played? Pretty sure he fluked a goal on his debut and was dreadful after that. Worst player for me was SVJ. Woefully unfit for that level of football, and operated a good 4 or 5 levels above his ability due to the obvious family connection. James Vaughan was pretty crap but was notably better than his brother.

Kamu Laird. Can't seem to remember if he actually played a game for us. So you don’t know if he was the worst then. He played 3 games and scored 1 (came off at half time 😂) got taken off against Orient after half hour and never seen again. then went Dulwich Hamlet then emigrated to Trinidad and signed for Joe Public FC. Whoever the fuck they are. Signed with Angus Eve. Just after Joe Carver, Goran Milosavljevic and Martin Nash. There’s a few more diabolical footballers. What a joke we were.

If he wasn't related to the chairman, you'd have thought he was just the same as many of the other youth players we had at the time - managed OK but never likely to progress. SVJ was dreadful. We should have been trying to force SV out as soon as it became obvious that his place in the team wasn't up for debate.

Harsh to brand James Alabi as ‘’one of our worst players’’. He scored 17 goals in an average side, left us for a fee, and will always be remembered for his four-goal haul in our demolition of Aldershot Town. Not very many former Chester players can say that, so he deserves some respect for it. When I was younger I used to go to all of the soccer schools and Junior Blues events; he was a guest for a couple of them and was brilliant with the kids. When our women’s team played away at Runcorn Linnets last November, Joe Lynch was playing for a Sunday League side in the match before, and I had a chat with him. He’s a good lad and did a decent job for us in his brief stint here. Definitely a more-than-capable National League North footballer, but unfortunately he just couldn’t get a foothold into a midfield containing the likes of Declan Weeks and Elliott Whitehouse. Wish him well and hope he enjoys his time in Dubai. As for who’s our worst ever player, I could go on all day! Gareth Seddon, Jason Jarrett, Shaquille MacDonald, Jamie Rainford, Jamie Reed, Wade Joyce, Lucas Dawson, Craig Lindfield, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Liam Davies, Dom Smalley, Louis Gray, Luke George, George Green, and Luke Jordan are a few I can name in my 14 years as a Seals supporter. I will give you all them bar Seddon because he apparently turned down work to play for Chester and tried his best

Elliott never got much love here despite scoring regularly and has gone on to show he's a good striker at this level. Underrated of anything, or at least underappreciated.

In terms of contribution, it doesn't get much worse than one appearance, one red card. I'm sure he did it on purpose as well, he'd probably had a bet on himself getting sent off. Lindfield is the only player I can think of who had two spells at the club and was really poor for both of them.

We have a longer thread on James Alabi and ex players than when we win on a Saturday.
Swear we’ve got some people stuck in a time warp.
For what’s it’s worth, more recently I thought Scott Burton was shite.

It was the away game at Salisbury City where a parachutist landed on the pitch in the middle of the match.

Kev MacIntyre in his second spell was dire.

Never forget the screamer away at Doncaster in the play offs. Really thought we were going up. Perhaps more mysterious was why Kingsley James was such a shadow of his former self when he returned for a second spell.

Talking about legs going how about Chris Iwelumo. Didn’t play very many games but legs had long gone and definitely wore boots made out of concrete.

Alabi who I spoke with on a few occasions was it seemed a really nice lad . As Rio said he scored 17 goals hasn’t done much else at any other club He was clearly settled and well Managed by those in charge at the time who got the best out of him . As for awful players there are names from the Terry Smith days that stand out Kwik Ajet Later on Chappell was shite More recently the ones Rio mentions are all fair shouts Grant Shelton (I think ) the keeper garbage
