Fair play to Cal, he picked the team that was required. We were so much better with and without the ball. Credit to Adam Thomas who made Peers look like the player we signed. I’d also say Burton was excellent after the first goal. We were so much better when Glendon came on, too. Captain Fantastic!

We used the width so much better, Thomas particularly good at putting dangerous low balls in from near the goal line, rather than the aimless crosses we've had in the air previously. Maybe Cal identified their centre backs were from the land of the giants, but we should be aiming for balls like that all the time. We still sometimes over-run them with Peers entering the six yard box early and the ball going behind him. That's fine as it's a great goal scoring position to get in if the ball meets him, but we also need a midfielder or two running in behind (or a defender like Burke when he scored) so they can also meet a low cross if it hits the penalty spot area.

Totally different team today from that we’ve seen since Xmas. We played with intensity and a cutting edge we’ve been so lacking. Weeks was magnificent but so were they all. Even Joe Taylor turned up today! Means nothing if we don’t win on Monday, though. We have to win the last two home games. And hope for something a big win at either Brackley or Gloucester.

Today's goals could really count, as it could help us edge Alfreton out on goal difference. We're plus 20, they're plus 19.

When was the last time we scored four goals in a league game away from home before today?

Looking through old results, it looks as though it was a 4-2 away win at Dartford in November 2014. Goalscorers were Mahon (2), Hughes and Oates. www.chester-city.co.uk/fixtures_2014-15.asp

This was the difference for me, we’ve been crying out for those quick little short crosses into the box, they’re a nightmare to defend against because they only need a touch & they’re in. A bit of panic in the box & eventually the ball drops to Burkenbauer & we go ahead. So pleased for Thomas & Peers as well, hopefully that sparks a bit of confidence in Peers especially who’s looked like he’s been lacking it a bit recently.

Is it me or is Cals body language a bit strange linkDid seem a bit pissed off. More importantly perhaps he said that we’d be down two players for Monday. Mind games or not, don’t recall anyone going off clearly injured. I was only following via Seals Live though.

Excellent performance today. We had much more width. I thought it was interesting that with Tollit in and Glendon off, Tollit was much more comfortable roaming around behind the attack making things happen. Thomas had a blinder - I was really chuffed for him because it would’ve been easy for him to have got pretty hacked off this season what with injuries and the shape Cal plays not really accommodating him. What I really enjoyed was Burton - he had a really fantastic tussle with thier No.7 all game. I loved his physicality and grit. I hope this is the start of the shackles being taken off the team and having done an “inverse Kiddy” recently going from 3rd to 10th, maybe we can turn that into “doing a Kiddy” and scraping back into playoffs by the skin of our teeth but with lots of momentum to power through the play off games. Scores did not really go for us today but Mon is a 6 pointer and anything less than a win is probably the death nail in this season.

What sort of shape did we play today, was it still a two up top or were Tolitt and Thomas out wide?
Sounded a class win on seals live. Hoping we can go and back this up on Monday. Playing alfreton is always a battle, just need to stick to our game and not get sucked into their hoof ball tactic because that won't work for us

In many ways, we’ve simply done what was required to avoid falling yet further behind, but that was infinitely better than other recent performances. Monday will be the real test, as it’ll give us the opportunity to make some real inroads, and this afternoon’s showing has surely given us confidence that we’ve got what it takes to do just that.
Great that the Adam Thomas fanclub, of which I’m president, has finally been able to reconvene. Today has just further reinforced my view that he’s one of the most talented players at the club, who’s been often under-/misused during his tenure here - no coincidence that the team as a whole play better when he’s allowed the freedom to play in his preferred role on the right, and if he’s given the opportunity then he could very well be our secret weapon in this run-in. Special mention to Taylor too - at fault for their opener, which had us fearing it’d be another poor day at the office for him, but rebounded superbly to produce one of his best performances of the season. You could tell how much the ovation he received meant to him when he went off.

Tamworth haven't won the league mathematically. If they lose all four and Chorley win all five of their games, they will be level on points, but Chorley will also need to reverse a goal difference of 17. Not going to happen.

Burton looked a right player today After his mistake which lead to Buxton's goal he was a Colossus. Dropped off for one header he should have made, but apart from that one, he was always in exactly the right place for the Buxton keeper's long punts up field, and won header after header. Very influential player today.

It might just be me but Cal seemed very salty in his post match interview aiming a dig at Neil Turner along the way Inclided to agree with you. The way Cal answers questions from Neil compared to Shane is a bit strange, always seems really defensive when Turner asks even fairly basic questions. Probably just Cal letting out frustration that's built up in recent weeks

He’s come across quite arrogant at times in response to some of what Neil has asked, which were questions nothing out of the ordinary.

After the horror of that early goal that was a fabulous performance today.Every player played their hearts out and special mention for Thomas and Burton who excelled!!Presume Whitehorse was ill or injured but he wasn’t missed as Kevin Roberts filled in brilliantly. Now let’s get after the other Derbyshire team and maybe we can just squeeze into the playoffs!!!

Will have to see it again but would say Burton was at fault for the goal, couldn't sort his feet from a long ball and got punished. Was pretty shit for the rest of the first half. Excellent in the 2nd half however. Great win today, but means fuck all unless we win on Monday. Win that and we are back in business....as we know, home games aren't our strength but hopefully that brings the confidence and belief back today and helps us to start on the front foot on Monday.
