Expect a battling performance tomorrow. No idea what the Buxton 4g pitch is like, but hopefully decent.
My negative side is predicting a 0-0. With 400 cold and wet Blues attending.
Surely there's got to be goals though. A draw isn't really much use to either club and an early goal should open the game up.

I'm going for 1-0 Chester. We've already sold 520 tickets. Could've been 1000+ but still a good following

We'll win this in style with a 3-0 win setting us up for an unbeatable run-in to secure a play off spot.
650 Cal supporting Blues in attendance.

It's one of them, keep expecting us to switch on and we aren't. That being said I think a 0-1 win, 800 Blues.

Might nick this as we’re away from home.
Can’t be any worse really. Have to win, and then again next four games.
Having said that what I want to happen and the evidence of the last few months are two different things.
1-1 and the seasons over.
I just can’t see us changing the way we play.

Nice and civilised for me today with the missus, until I step foot in the ground and turn a maniac for 2 hours.
We’ll do these today. 1-0 with a GLENDON winner.
For those here earlier, just had a decent breakfast at cafe at the green pavilion - recommend for those in town early.

Absolutely pivotal game today, as will our next four games after that. It’s been a very disappointing start to 2024 on the whole, because our home displays have been very predictable and regurgitated. It’s baffled me to be honest, because up until the Rushall Olympic game in January our home record was excellent, and we seemed to put last season’s inconsistent record behind us. Since that Rushall match, with the exception of a couple of wins, we’ve been hard to watch, as we do too much on the ball without shooting, and our set-pieces have been dreadful, so we really need to shake things up tactically. Our away form has been solid recently, but draws aren’t enough now, and anything other than three points today would be unacceptable. It’s a shame it’s come to this, as it seemed as if we had a play-off finish in the bag for a while, but we’re spiralling out of the picture just at the wrong time, whereas teams like South Shields and Spennymoor Town are picking up in form just at the perfect time. It’d be a travesty if we weren’t to make the top seven. No wins in seven, and no goals in four games says it all, so we only have ourselves to blame. Of course it isn’t over yet, but sadly I just can’t see us magically winning three or four out of our final games to recover from our awful form.
However, I’ll still be attending all of our remaining fixtures, and will be giving Calum McIntyre plus our team my support more than ever, to help them turn things around. We all need to pull together and get down to Buxton in our numbers, as we’re all in this fight together. Tactically, we need a big revamp today, and I’ve been saying for a while that we need to play with wingers in a standard 4-4-2. Our midfield has been way too crammed in the middle, and our lack of width has been very evident in recent weeks. I’d put Adam Thomas and Ben Tollitt on either flank, with Elliott Whitehouse and Iwan Murray in the middle, as George Glendon could be a doubt. I’d also start Kieran Burton alongside Matty Williams in the centre of defence. I was surprised Kieran didn’t start last week, as he did the full warm-up, and at least he offers a threat from corners. Harrison Burke looked lost at right-back against South Shields, so I would put him just in front of our back four to give it some protection. Hopefully Kieran Coates will be fit for today, so we can have him on the right, with Nathan Woodthorpe on the left. I just want to see a committed, attacking performance with plenty of crosses going into the box, and hopefully a couple of goals to boot (even one would be nice)!! It’s been a frustrating last couple of months, but let’s all get behind the lads and hope we can turn it around.
Score - Buxton (De Girolamo) 1-1 Chester FC (Thomas).
Attendance - 1,126 (534 Chester FC).

As a Welsh Chester fan it has been a pretty gruesome last few weeks. Here's hoping Cal and the boys can turn it around today.

1-0 3mins from time, howler by our defence. 450 blues. We also miss a penalty. That's how depressed I feel atm. In my alternate universe, we storm it 3-0. 680 blues, 1 helicopter and 38 riot police.

Drove up yesterday for this. A 20 minute walk from my mate's house.
We've really missed Roberts' grit in midfield.

First game in recent memory where the overriding emotion for me is one of worry rather than excitement. Win or bust today - not an easy place to visit, but fingers crossed we finally see some much-needed stylistic changes. Hope I’m wrong by all means, but I’m going for a pessimistic 0-0.

Trying to work out the formation today 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 really can't tell Being a miserable old git and a pessimist can only see a narrow 1 nill defeat. I've never wanted to be more wrong in my whole life

Stanway, Taylor, Weeks, Burke, Williams, Peers, Thomas, Tollit, Murray, Roberts, Burton Subs Woodthorpe, Glendon, Norton, Daly, Heywood Call me crazy but I think this could be a 433/4321 with Robbo, Weeks and Murray in midfield. Hopefully the latter pushed up behind Peers so he's not too isolated. Come on blues

The useless midfield "diamond" finally gone? Let's hope so and we get a bit of width with Thomas playing as a winger, for which he was bought from Curzon, instead of a back to goal forward trying to head on the ball to no one in particular. Let's hope we see the Weeks of last season now he hasn't got Glendon in his space. We've got to take our chances one game. Let's hope it's today. Pessimistic 3-1 to Cals blue boys
