Well he can't be clearer than that. Good statement. 👍👍

Well he can't be clearer than that. Good statement. 👍👍 Agreed. Sets it all out in black and white. No one can say that he hasn’t got a plan. Clearly identifies areas for improvement. Let’s hope this work comes to fruition next year.

Fair bit of waffle in there, but I like the bit about understanding we need a more physical presence and need to be more dynamic up front. I hope we get some early good news on new player recruitment. Cal's well up for this and I think we'll do well next season.

I guess the big question from the update is
Do all the players already under contract meet the new criteria?

I guess the big question from the update is Do all the players already under contract meet the new criteria? Would it relate to players still under contract, or just potential new arrivals?

I would say it applies to everybody. This could change the managers opinion in theory on some of the players already contracted for next season.

Possibly, in which case Caton and Peers might be available for transfer, if any interested parties obviously.

Unless they want to leave and find themselves clubs, and agree a suitable settlement, they will remain here.

It's clear Cal wants to hammer home the need for physically as that's what most fans are asking for. It's good he's recognised this but at the same time if we just line up with the same tactics i'm still not sure what difference it'll make.
It's not as if we put cross after cross in for whoever has played striker for us this season. The issue is playing with no width in most games, and players in wide positions not being able to deliver a cross, Burke when he's played there, Coates, Taylor etc.
I'm already buzzing to see how we'll line up next season, but I don't think it's just a case of missing a big brute up top, the tactics at home especially were the issue this season. Anyone would've struggled to score in that system

Anyone would've struggled to score in that system I have some sympathy with this. However, if we did have a big lump up front, based on the 7/8 games I saw live, the ball would have stuck up top a lot more often and brought our packed midfield into it more. And then who knows what would’ve happened? It was almost laughable our inability to win an attacking header in the games I saw.

Why does Cal talk about wanting the best possible chance of securing a play-off position - surely the aim is to win the league not get a play-off position.

Seems a bit of a moot point for Cal to mention that it’s our second highest points tally since we were relegated to the NLN. I suppose it’s technically correct, but it’s only the second season we’ve played 46 games in it and two previous seasons weren’t even completed when we were in play-off positions at the time they were halted.
Good statement though.

Good statement though. That was the one part of the statement that I didn't like tbh. It may be true, but the rest of the message is accepting that we weren't good enough but we learn from it and go again, whereas this part feels like making an excuse and suggesting 'we weren't that bad, really'.

Oh yes we were !!! , If it was the Manchester duo people would rightly be asking questions of their suitability .

I like my managers that are passive aggressive. Cal is too nice sometimes. I'd go hell for leather and lure Youngy back as his right hand man. Youngy could get some sweet drum n bass vibes going in the dressing room and be the hard as flippin nails guy that Cal needs alongside him.

Even in NL people said same about Alabi and co - presumably the 6 months we had Hattersley where Ross Hannah was immense?
