They have been charged with 122ish fraud charges by the FA. The owner has just built the coop live arena. He is extending the Etihad to increase the stadium by 7000 and have a huge hotel complex and fan zone. I hope they convicted of all charges and get demoted at least to the National League. They think it's all money and money talks.

None of that matters with regard to Financial Fair Play to be fair - infrastructure spending is excluded.

Innocent till provern guilty but I hope the case brings Man City and the Premier league down. Hopefully it'll stop other major investors being involved in our beloved game.

City are never going to be relegated out the prem not in our life time, Most they'll get is a fine and a transfer ban which still wont affect them as their accademy is that good.

Ffp is window dressing, you might as well televise accountants at work to decide the final Prem places. Chesters best period in the seventies was funded by land sales etc. The sums are immense but the argument should be about how the money is shared between clubs and leagues.

Take the football side out of it for a moment, and appreciate how much their owner has invested in that area. It's a great setup around there these days, top class facilities and the community around there benefit from it. The matchday experience down there is also very impressive these days - I know a few die hard City fans and have been to a couple of games and can't help but be impressed by what they've got going on down there. Just thought I'd add that context, before anyone trots out the same old Emptihad jokes etc.
The charges looming over them do look pretty serious. I don't imagine any of them are recent charges as the people behind the scenes these days really know what they are doing, but wouldn't surprise me if mistakes have been made previously and given what's happened to Everton the Premier League will be under a lot of pressure to apply the rules now that they've set a precedent.

Don't forget that at that time Chester got £300,000 for Ian Rush and this is about the same time Trevor Francis was breaking the record as the first million pound player. Even today £300 K would come in handy. Good point Si makes further down about the benefits to the local community.

The new stand was built in 1979 and Rush was sold in 1980. The money was wasted on players who failed to deliver - Trevor Birch being one that comes to mind. Despite all that cash we were relegated in 81-82.

Despite all that cash we were relegated in 81-82. The stadium came in over budget I think. On my original point the promotion to Div 3 in 74/75 and the amazing cup runs were funded by selling off land by Reg Rowlands the then Chairman? We sold off the rest in the 80's and never saw the proceeds and ended up at the deva. Some say Barnes was acting as a front man for Rowlands but I don't know anything about that. The surprising thing is we were getting sold down the river and nobody seemed to spot it.

Somebody came in and paid it with the obvious clause of taking control and then sold the ground/land to Morrisons Shand.

Morrisons also knew the minimum capacity was 6000 but said they'd build a new 10000 stadium but in the contract it just said a stadium. Then they wanted a Golden share to have the last say in votes.

Totally transformed East Manchester.

On the subject of Man City, they have a blinding u18 midfielder that would be unreal on loan for someone (probably looking for an EFL move to be fair, rather than NLN). Isaiah Dada Mascoll his name is. Hes got pace, bags of ability and a big physical presence. Keep your eyes out for him.
