Just listened to Jon McCarthy and his aftermatch interview today. Annoyed beyond word at the excuses.
For anyone not listened, the excuses were
Injuries - Turnbull and White our only missing players. Torquay had 7 missing. And had 1 point...
Budget - the CFC Financial Director told the CFU meeting we were 'mid-table' in budgets. JMc reckons 'amongst the smallest'. All Sam Hughes money spent. Biggest budget since reformation.
No Training Facilities - Seahill, Saughall is the nicest grass facility in the town. The club (Saughall Colts JFC) have just had to spend £4500 on a chafer bug infection. Chester have yet to offer a penny. The facility has been available all week, JMc chose not to train.
Lack of medical back up - Kathryn Hopwood and Luke must be fairly put out by that?? JMc was waxing lyrical about the support from the Uni also at the CFU meeting. Maybe if he never had 2 assistant managers he could afford more medical staff.
If I was a board member I would be absolutely fuming at this interview. This is a difficult situation for them, and the manager blathering on about last years results and moaning about what the club provide will not help them.
We need firm action now, as unfortunately the improvement expected when we have some players back playing at the bottom club clearly didnt happen.
Bottom 4 already. We need a change quickly to give somebody a chance to rescue our season.

It's about time the press challenged him a bit more when interviewing him instead of letting him waffle off on a tangent of boll--ks.

Notice the tone of the tweets from the Chronicle? Simply put the scores at HT and FT, not pressing the bigger issue like they have been. Have they been told to back off by the club after the interview against Macclesfield? The excuses wore thin weeks ago. I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing them. The board have GOT to act quick. This man is on a mission to ruin the good work done by this club since 2010. By each passing interview he becomes more unpopular by the week.

His interviews are terrible and show the club in a poor light. I always say I don't really care what managers say to the press as long as they win games, but we don't and you feel the same defensive and evasive attitude he shows in interviews is also what's holding the club back on the pitch.
It really is time for a change and there's no point delaying it any longer. The club is in the doldrums and has been for the last three years really. Despite both giving us some good moments, it's time to accept that the Burr/McCarthy years have seen us at best stagnate, at worst go backwards. We've finished progressively lower for the last three seasons and this will continue this season unless we take action. We need a fresh start and for someone to come in with new ideas.

Also "watch us go when I get a fully fit squad" Jesus....injuries are part of football, that's why you build a squad. This is his team which he has built over two pre seasons, he has constructed it exactly how he wants it so I'm not having it about injuries, especially when we had pretty much a full squad today. Madness.

These latest comments from McCarthy are both desperate and a disgrace . Is the Board in such a weak position that it quite prepared to allow McCarthy to publically undermine the credibility of the Club in the interests of supporting his personal position ?

It's a great point you make and I think it will be the one that the board hang onto over the coming week. The woodwork at Hartlepool and Aldershot, as well as the referee today, have gifted JM points that the performances certainly haven't warranted. It surely can't go on that game after game he gets out of jail with nothing more than good fortune. By this time next week we will have played 9 games and will be on an equal number as everyone else. By that point we will surely know what the way forward is - one way or another.

It strikes me that Ross Hannah has just delayed McCarthy's P45 for a few more games but he's doing his best to talk himself out of a job anyway.

Madness. Exactly, plus what happened against Flyde and Halifax, fully fit squads and failed to win both. Halifax was one of the worst displays of football I have seen in a long time. Ironically though Halifax have kicked on since then and picked up a number of wins, whilst we have drifted further towards the bottom.

So not only is he routinely taking the piss out of the fans, he's now moved on to the board. As a poster says above, it's like he's asking to be sacked.

There can be no excuses. He has had full control in regard to so many aspects in preparation for this season. I found his admission that he did not want to pick Tom Shaw because he was not fully fit an admission of incompetence. He has allowed a 31year old who is on a playing contract to get so out of shape. The man clearly wants to be sacked on a full package. He is far from being a "nice man". He is a devious, arrogant, incompetent, and selfish individual. The word deluded has been frequently used. I don't think this applies now. I feel he is fully aware of how bad we are as a consequence of his system and is trying to be as bad as his contract will allow without breaking any contractual obligations.

He made his bed with the fans a long time ago, now he needs to lie in it. Fed up of this embarrassing, disingenuous praise for the fans, who have rightly booed him off the pitch for the last two weekends.
What he is saying here is that without a fully fit squad he can't win football matches.
He had the choice of what to do with his budget - he chose to have less players on higher salaries, so now it's time to deal with the consequences of those decisions, not blame everybody else at the club for an apparent lack of resources.
I can only think that the people who claim he is such a nice guy don't listen to his post match interviews.
If he gets to the Ebbsfleet game I can see it getting very nasty next Saturday.
