IF we beat solihull tomorrow we will be above tranmere and level with barrow and fylde 3 of the big spenders/fancied teams in the league im not saying our manager is the man for the job but seems a bit early to be sacking him as has been mentioned elswhere best to look at situation after 10/12 games and assess then based on league postions now if all managers were sacked there would be so many vacancies to fill just my opionion COYB

Big IF though.
And that's the problem. Before the season I'd have said we should target this as 3 points. But now I'd probably take a point.

We would have all fancied our chances away at an injury ravaged, manager-less, winless Torquay United usually, but we barely scraped a point in the last minute of the game.
The way we're playing, the overall common theme to our games - sitting deep, not winning any second balls, constantly inviting pressure on ourselves lumping balls forward to 2 forwards playing against brick shithouse centre backs, and playing far too narrow, means we are easy for teams to exploit. Solihull are a poor side, but if they've done their homework on us I expect us to lose this. McCarthy has only one way of playing - if you can call it that.
I expect a Solihull win to be honest. Then the pressure really will be on the board as to what happens next.

It's hard to argue based solely on that criteria. If we can win tomorrow we'd probably be 17th - not great, but far from disastrous. I'm not going to pretend that we're attractive to watch and there have been times I've left games feeling thoroughly downhearted. It's the entertainment I think worries fans most, but if we can snatch a win tomorrow, 17th would represent an adequate return.

If we win the next 2 games i genuinely don't know how i'll feel. I'm not saying it is going to happen but it'll be some conundrum.

If we win the next 2 games i genuinely don't know how i'll feel. I'm not saying it is going to happen but it'll be some conundrum. You're not wrong. Win the next 2 and we'll likely be top 10! Which is ridiculous given how we've played. A big win tomorrow could give us confidence going into the next match. At the moment, nobody in the league is standing out, hence the difference 3 points will make. Normally we see teams with 100% records at this stage. It's early doors, while i want JM to have 10 games, i think he would be lucky to get that time. He's clearly tactically shambolic for all to see. His game plan is go long and play for the second ball, that tells you all you need to know. Most teams play for the first ball as well. You have to play to your strengths IMO, big sides can play long balls. We need to keep it down and try some football, get some width in the side (a wide player was desperately needed this summer). The odd ball in behind is okay as Hannah doesn't give up on anything, but honestly, we're missing that creativity in midfield, feels like everything is over the top, overhit and nobody wants to play football. With the technical talent Turnbull and Dawson have, this should not be happening, you can only assume its JM's instructions.

Mahon is our only creative midfielder, OK, maybe Chappell to a degree, but we are really missing Durrell, his unlocking of the defence would have been perfect for the strikers we have.

It's the nature of our performances even more so than the results for me.
Had we been unlucky, or you could see a clear pattern of play that we were trying to install, I'd be pretty forgiving. In reality, it's dour (not necessarily a bad thing!) and utterly ineffective. We look rudderless, with players having no idea what to do when they get on the ball.
