Chester have just signed defender Nathan Sheron on a 28-day loan deal from Fleetwood. Much needed as Astles and McCombe are injured. Welcome to Chester FC Nathan! 🔵⚪️

Apparently the nephew of former Man City player Mike Sheron, who I recall spending a pre-season on trial at Chester late in his career.

We've needed centre back cover since pre-season why we've waited until now to do annoys me. No time to train with the team just straight in. Suppose we'll see what happens

Glad we've got another defender, but shows total lack of any strength in depth when we have to rely on a untested youngster to come in like this.

Sign a centre back but playing Halls at the back.

And according to Shane on Dee 106.3 he's nowhere near as good as Matty Waters.
This annoys me more than anything that McCarthy gives the lad a 2-year deal and keeps him on the bench.

We urgently needed cover at centre back did we not? Surely there must have been one available somewhere for us to loan. Whilst we were woeful generally tonight ( see my match thread comments). It hasn't helped playing players out of position and probably caused their first goal.

For someone who "gets us", McCarthy seems to have no faith in our Academy.
Signing 19 year old Sheron, who was beyond awful tonight, when Matty Waters doesnt make the bench?
We also have 6ft 4" graduate centre half James Jones fit as a fiddle?
Nat Brown never travelled when no strikers fit? Didnt play Sam Hughes at CH until he had to.
What does it tell these lads? Either play them or send them on loan. Its not as though those playing are any better.
He is not a manager who "gets us", he is no more likely to use these lads as anyone else.
Time to get rid, get someone in who will keep us up, and start to look to the future. Hes blown the SH and Alabi money, so we need to play these lads to earn some more.

Yet another reason for the board to bring this to an end !!!!

Yeah but rallied Blacon for those precious 2 minutes he gave to Crawford at the back end of a humiliating home thumping?

Yes, and then what? Leaves the lad out of the next 2 squads whilst the poorest Chester squad we've seen in years limps around being owned by 10 men at Solihull.

Agree 100% Mark, what message does it send to all the kids currently working very hard at all ages through our Academy.

I'm hoping Matty Waters is injured? Purely because he is 10x the player that Sheron is. He was lucky to be on the pitch for me after that tackle.
From JM: McCarthy, who handed a debut to loan signing Nathan Sheron, earlier said: "We've got the smallest group in the division and one of the smallest budgets in the division.
Yes Jon, you've also got young players signed up that want to prove themselves. I wouldn't have been far off the levels of Sheron and LRT last night! I certainly would have outperformed Chappel and James, who was made ineffective by JM playing him in a nothing role behind the strikers.

Sheron did actually get better 2nd half. Or did the rest get worse and make him look better? I've been posting about loan signings for weeks. I didn't mean a 19yo full back though. What manager muddles through without any strikers without bringing someone in? Then brings in one for a position we can cover? Having a small squad has been made a bigger issue by not playing the squad players in their right position, even when the other alternatives are injured. Matty Waters is a full back in his second season as a professional. Doesn't get a look in when we need a full back. Liam Davies is a striker, if anything. Gets played at wide midfield, plays poorly and gets dropped. We had no fit strikers at Aldershot. Puts him midfield with Dawson up front. Why sign him if not going to play him as a striker? He's no midfield player on all the evidence so far. Nathan Brown is a striker that can play in the hole. That's a role that Chappell, Mahon, James etc have all been tried in, to little effect. Surely worth a sub place with no other options? Tom Crawford suddenly appears on the bench, when we have loads of midfield players fit. Gets two minutes, them disappears again. We almost ended with more players playing out of position, than in their best position last night. We seem to now be changing things every few minutes hoping it suddenly clicks. That's what you do when you've no idea how to fix it.
