I thought it would be interesting and amusing to have a thread with links to other fans forums, and their views of our prospective managers. Here's the Grimsby fans views on Marcus Bignot forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1491063625/Doesn't look too promising based on that. Reminds me of Burr!

Looking at that thread you'd think he's some clown who should be managing in the Sunday League. Reminds me of McCarthy!
On a serious note though, he didn't actually do too bad at Grimsby. Achieved his targets set by the board and got some huge wins against top opposition e.g. 3-0 away at Plymouth, 3-1 away at Blackpool. Also read he inherited a very average side, but made some top young signings who are still there to this day and key players to Grimsby.

Results do look ok.
But concerning about constant changing of the squad/team, and real issues with loads of the players refusing to sign new contracts while he stayed. Would concern you as a Board Member if you read all that.

They wanted certain players out the club etc and must've been an awkward situation for him to inherit.

Also, take a look at their opinions more recently. There's a thread from the start of this month about him being named interim assistant at Barrow. They were far more forgiving towards Bignot there. Suggests it was heat of the moment rage when he was sacked.

Someone said he was only on £30k and a six month rolling contract too. Doubt £30k is accurate, though.
However, if that's true, that brings him into our price and contract range.

However, their fans seem rather critical of all their managers. There were mixed views over Paul Hurst even when he got them promoted! So best to take the comments with a pinch of salt...

I don't think you can look at any clubs comments on a previous manager and take it too seriously. If anyone asked us about Burr we wouldn't be complementary but some of his previous clubs might. Solihull may really rate Bignott, it's all about how the clubs played at the time at the end of the day.

Thanks it makes quite interesting reading and seems less of a knee jerk reaction than the other thread I read, I found it quite interesting what the Solihull fan posted about him. My main concern from what I read was how he swapped and changed players In some way to see how they reacted to different situations ect, that's ok and Grimsby we're safe at that time but can we afford to do that now ? I am just glad I don't have to make that decision
