Im sure the board has learned lessons from the past and hopefully this has been a very shrewd move

Have to say, my prediction of 10-15k was a little harsh in hindsight. I still think we'll be lucky to get the £70k reportedly offered. I just hope the guys behind the scenes here have learnt their lesson from previous transfer blunders. Any fee for Hughes is pointless unless there is a sell on clause i agree with you. The sell on clause will make us much more than the tribunal fee should he reach his potential. Barnsley is the perfect club: Stones & Holgate to name two, have moved to Everton in the past few years, with stones now 'worth' £50m! Imagine Barnsleys delight at that sell on clause when he went to City.. Tribunals usually include a sell on clause of 20%, additional fees after 15, 30, 45 , and 60 appearances and sometimes for an international selection or the club winning promotion.

Anyone watching him Saturday would have seen a frustrated 19 year old playing out of position and still doing more than most around him (Shaw and Alabi excluded)

I dont think its about what we could potentially receive from a tribunal its more about what somebody is willing to pay. To drive up that price then you need to have more than 1 club in the running. To assist with that process the lad needs to be playing in his best position between now and the end of the season.

The best talent at the club and has played more games right back than centre back or even centre mid where he used to play. just drop Hudson and play him from now until end of season in his best position, it will help boost the price and put a smile on the lads face.

I've been saying this since he was moved to RB for the game against Lincoln City. Completely wasted at RB. If he'd been playing at CH v Lincoln we'd have won that game because he wouldn't have given Rhead the easy game that he always gets against us.

As we're leaving it to a tribunal, I can foresee a lot of anger on the way from fans as I don't think we'll get a lot in the summer.

With all the clubs sniffing round looking at Sam it could turn out that we get some offers on the table before the end of the season, clubs will want to get into pole position as they won't be able to approach him until he's out of contract. Turning down Barnsley could turn out to be a great move from the club as a bidding war could possibly ensue

Or he could piss off to Scotland like Heneghan and we'd get next to nothing....

Drop Astles, he was cr*p against Gateshead why should Hudson be dropped for a fairly okay performance and goal...

Or he could piss off to Scotland like Heneghan and we'd get next to nothing.... Assuming he has been at CFC since he was 16 and has, as reported in the local press been offered a new deal, then if he did move to a SPL club, CFC would receive around £110,000 for the player as per FIFA's training compensation formula. The downside in that scenario is that there would be no sell on clause other than a small solidarity payment if sold whilst under still contract at that SPL club

Am I correct in thinking he's out of contract in the summer? So lets be honest hes not going to sign a renewal. Should of worked something out with interested parties... Good fee and a loan back till May...

The Guardian is reporting Barnsley will renew their interest in the summer, probably via a tribunal. In that case, time to make him captain. It'll look good on his cv, and even if it only increases his valuation by a small amount, it's money for nothing.

I reckon we need to ensure we have a decent sell-on fee in the deal even if it does go to tribunal. If he joins Barnsley and does impress, that's where we will see real money on Sam.

Could be worth half a mill by the end of it.

Had no choice eventually. His performances against Alty and at Kidderminster were outstanding.
