Burr's got history with Stalybridge, interesting from their chairman saying that if they go down Burr will be given the playing budget to ensure they come straight back up. I can remember scrambling wondering whether he would stay if we were relegated to the Conf North.

Can never understand why some want to have a go at him. Did a good job here and gave us our best season to date. We even had a cup run that the cone handler would have approved of. It didn't work out in the long term, but how often does it? Macca will be a hate figure before long for some. Sometimes I think footy fans deserve footy.

Me and Burr are best pals on instagram messenger. I respect him a lot and sometimes I wonder why people moan about him.

Sometimes I think footy fans deserve footy. 2 belting wins v Wrexham, Barnsley away after a great win v Southend. A few last minute winning games and memorable comebacks. Wasn't sad to see Burr go (it was the right move for the club) but forever grateful to him. Deserves his place in Chester FC history, wish him all the best wherever he goes.

Southport fan here.
We were all gutted when Burr was sacked. He'd turned the club around, and we'd gone from bottom of the the league to five points clear of the drop zone after an away win at Barrow. Two defeats later, and the trigger is pulled. It is generally assumed there must've been a bust-up or something, because he can't have been sacked for results.
He had horrific luck with injuries, our three best CBs (Howe, Jack Higgins, Thompson) were injured/recalled at the same time. Our front two (Allen and Brewster) got injured, and key midfielder Lussey is out for the season after a disgraceful challenge from a Wrexham player. I know Chester have a thin squad, imagine how you'd cope with seven first team players out! As a result, he had to constantly recruit new players. I think it was 19 in the end. A few of them were rubbish, but they were only young lads on non-contract so it's not like it cost much money.
Anyway, the Southport managerial merry-go-round continues and it's Andy Preece's chance to have a few games.

His attitude and constant moaning about budgets and other excuses didn't do him any favours. We had a few decent results in his time and a half decent cup run but ultimately he was relegated once and would have been for a second time had he been given a full season.

Hell hath no fury like a manager sacked “Steve Burr’s shown no class throughout all this. Well, Steve and I will show him what class is,” (scroll down page) pavspatch.tumblr.com/

Well, Steve and I will show him what class is,” (scroll down page) pavspatch.tumblr.com/Steve Halford rings a bell. Did he play for us during our first stint in the Conference? Looks like he shares the same views on Steve Burr as Arrogant Blue!
