I am definitely one who wanted Macca to succeed and supported his continuation into this season. I have to eat humble pie over this of course, but it is clear that the current situation is quite simply due to his lack of ability as a football manager at this level. It will take a very good manager to turn this round in a season. I do hope one of the serious candidates has what it takes. It won't be an easy decision. I would be happy with the appointment of either Bignot or Barrow. You could have typed this for me. I think those of us that felt he should be given time felt that because of how well the first half of last season went. There was clearly something there. In hindsight it's clear things were only getting worse & changes needed to be made.
I totally respect both of your opinions. For what its worth, my mind was made up after sitting through an eighth consecutive home defeat last April. He should have been removed there and then. Unfortunately I didn't share your admirable tolerance levels of watching a constantly losing team with dreadful performances month after month, and then feel that the guy responsible should be allowed to continue and spend the next seasons budget. In my view, the mess we are now in results from allowing an inept manager to continue without any reasonable prospect of success. This scenario was entirely predicable and hindsight is not required.

Well to be fair, I have only got to one or two games at home in the last couple of years. I was based in the SW so went to games like Eastleigh away where I saw us set up perfectly to disassemble a superior side. All depends on your optics I suppose.

After to going to all home games bar 2 or 3, and the odd away game , the last time I have seen Chester win anywhere since December 17 2016, was the very fortunate one nil success at Southport last February. Although the Evan Horwood goal was worth seeing.

The monumental error was delaying McCarthy's sacking, which was then compounded further by appointing Bignot.

Grass isn't always greener is it!!! The amount of smug opinions on this site when he was sacked. Exactly what I said at the beginning of the year is happening now. Change isn't always for the better when you want stability! Behave yourself!! McCarthy created this mess actually Maguire has created this mess backing the idiot

Well at least you are finding some perverse pleasure in the Clubs position, and perhaps I shouldn’t respond. But, as many said at the time, McCarthy should have been removed immediately after the final game of last season. Who knows, had this common-sense decision been taken, perhaps any successor (even Mr Bignot) could have assembled an appropriate squad over the summer and we could at least have been competitive this season. Unlike you, our Board members and the odd volunteer, by any reasonable indication, the vast majority of fans fully accept that McCarthy was allowed to outstay his welcome at our club for a further 6 months. In that time he was allowed to cause serious harm and long-lasting damage to the Club both on and off the pinch. The depth of which was far greater than initially believed, and only became fully apparent once the poor quality of the squad he assembled became fully clear. I suspect the most skilled trouble shooter available at this level could not correct this mess without a significant budget (which had already been spent) but keeping McCarthy on would have been utterly ridiculous as undoubtedly results and performances would have been far worse given his abysmal track record for months. Don't forget he couldn’t win a single home game from December 2016 until his sacking. So no, it hasn't got much better since JMs delayed departure , and the Jury is still out on Bignot’s abilities, and who knows may be a more experienced manager may have been the better short term option . But McCarthy’s removal was essential and the minimum requirement for someone so obviously out of his depth and proven to be so poor at his job. It is just so frustrating that such a weak Board, failed to act so much earlier. Many those responsible still enjoy the status of their elevated positions but seem immune to criticism whilst the club declines.

Why rise to Roman's bait - just remember his past involvement with this club and ihnore the clown.

Apologies Trev don't mean it to come across like I'm taking pleasure out of the situation, I promise you I'm not. My point was to remind the lynch/bandwagon gangs that loiter on this website that screaming for a manager to be sacked is not always the best way forward when you have no money and are looking for stability.
Why rise to Roman's bait - just remember his past involvement with this club and ihnore the clown. Billy x love ya baby

Why hasn't Roman or Bob Grey as he's better known been banned? His trolling is worse than Whoppers Why would I be banned Oaks? For not calling for JM to be sacked. Many of the fans on this board haven't got a clue I'm still looking for all the extra fans that were gonna come flocking back when a new manager comes in, haha the word 'deluded' comes to mind. Despite calls for me to be banned I will continue to offer my opinion. Also, seen as though people have brought up SV (AGAIN) all I will say is many of the fans on this board were not about then and just side with the mob mentality. It wasn't all bad 1. Bigger gates under SV 2. Better players under SV (Lowe, Claire, Ellison, Walters to name a few) 3. League football under SV I await the response 1. Went bust under SV 2. etc etc 3. Blah blah Blah What do we have now 1. Stagnation 2. Relegation bound 3. Poor attendance figures But at least we are a fan owned club!!! People can't see it,but the situation we are in now is only slightly better than the end of the SV days

I've reported you Bob.
That is the most offensive post I've read on here.
You don't have to give insults out to be offensive by the way. Just supporting SV achieves that

Yep, sure, only slightly different.. The end of the Vaughan years meant oblivion for Chester FC and a trashing of it's reputation (minutes silences for drug dealing funders etc).
We might well get relegated this year but we've still got a club to support next year.

1 - we'd have just as big gates if we were top
2- Also worse players. His fat, useless, idiot of a son may be the worst player ever
3 - Took us out of the league as well
You are an embarrassment Bob

Report me all you want oaks, your not the one who gets abused every time you come on here. I stand by my comments. The reality is the platform is not there for us to grow. We need investment and the club needs to be sold. When I say investment I'm obviously not talking about an SV type investment.
