Think you have hit the nail on the head. Maybe as fan owned club we need to chip in more financially, fundraising, it's a difficult one to answer under the current circumstances, but something that has to be sorted out and quickly. Maybe it's time to go back to a businessman ownership as we clearly don't have the power / financial clout in our current set up.

We stay fan owned.
The football is getting us all down. That can change and a few victories and the other issues will cease to exist.

Hence the word maybe, if you read the paragraph above I also mention more contribution from ourselves, fundraising etc. I don't know the answer but it is clear to see we need more finances to compete and get the fans back through the turnstiles again. Our current set up is struggling at this level of football to be competitive and ultimately this has had an effect on our crowds dropping.

Even if we get relegated, we stay fan owned and re-build. If we can't compete in this league with 2,000 plus fans, what chance do we have in the conference north with 1,200? I was a real backer of the fan ownership dream, but we need to wake up and see where it's taken us. What we should be looking to do is something like they have in Germany, a certain percentage of fan ownership but outside investment

The incompetence of the board has left us in this difficult predicament. Lessons need to and should be learnt from this. We are presently regressing under the current model. When you look at the table and see some of the clubs that are having success so far this season. We shouldn't be miles behind. Why we are and what can be done to address it needs attention. Whilst it must be difficult with peoples commitments I do feel this appointment is laboriously slow in nature. Can anyone shed any light on if there is or isn't going to be money available for whoever comes in? As another post says you can't help but to feel it all seems a bit amateurish.

Sadly the damage was done in early days when instead of grooming the crowds to ensure higher income in conference we drove people away in the chase to get here asap.
I would take those championships away in favour of organic growth and a community club tonne proud of, but that can't happen so no point asking me that question every time.
We are where we are and our hardcore has been decimated to 1400-1500 whereas once we feared it would drop under the lofty 1,800.
So next season when prices go up to £20 (inevitable) and we get more non-teams from conference south with their 200 fans where do you see the attendances and income going?
The conference north is not the abyss and would probably give us the chance to rebuild the club if we approached it properly, given the well supported sides in it and achievable, enjoyable away days (credit the 65 lunatics yesterday but the average fan can't follow us home and away)

Good morning everyone yes yesterday was a disaster for your team going 4 0 down never sits well on a Sunday morning. I of course went to my teams game at Wrexham as per normal when you are away. I sat through 98 mins of tedious football. No idea in the middle or upfront.
The only difference between our two teams is wrexhams defensive abilities which so far are excellent. Guisley came with one intention to draw and waste as much time as possible. Cox their manager would have suited your club perfectly he is clinically spot on setting up his team. They gave nothing away at all. Unfortunate for you by leaving your management in charge a bit to long you missed him.
I just hope you get the right man this time and not someone who won't bother if he is sacked months down the line. I have an idea who may get the position via a connection with your club well it's his preferred choice anyway the person concerned should do well if he gets enough votes.
I wish you the very best for the remainder of the season as a true Wrexham supporter and supporter of local football. Get the defensive side sorted add some grit and determination and play Mahon for the next 35 games and you will just make it.

The club need to maybe speculate in order to accumulate and look at employing someone on a wage, maybe looking at someone on a placement from a university.

Why does this club depend so much on voluntary support from genuinely committed people and then take the piss by throwing money on the merry band of professional employees who are only interested in themselves? No wonder nobody came forward.

We're doomed under the current regime, something has to give, the question I would like to ask the board is why I've our crowds gone backwards from nearly 2800 to 1600? That's one hell of a loss in fan base. Currently we're heading back to Conf North we're like a rudderless ship with no captain at the helm.

Very sad to see the way the club is going....."down". We have no money, losing fans hand over fist, a board that seems " tighter" than the Masons and no Manager, and players who arnt fit to wear the shirt.... As a fan owned club I can never see us in the league. It was great to get the club backup and running, but now needs to be looked at imo. We need heavy investment and soon to safe guard our future in this league or wherever we may end up. I said from the start we were too successful too soon,we went up the first season because of other results on the last day of the season, yes it was great at the time, but thinking about it, it maybe would have been better to have not gone up and spent the next season building a stronger squad and keeping the fan base we had. The same when we went up again, we didnt build on it and went up with a squad that wasnt really good enough. Top this with staying up because of the Hereford situation, shows that we wernt ready for the Conference. We cannot compete in this league while the club is in this stae.... Very sad but a FACT.......

Lots of people using "fact" after making an opinionated point. Perhaps learn the meaning of that word first. Anyway, if we are talking facts, we don't have a budget in the bottom 4 of the league, therefore we should be able to "compete at this level" as its pointed out we can't in a few posts.
The truth is, too many mistakes this season, the biggest being JM being allowed to bring in a team this summer. 99% of this forum we're creaming their pants when we brought in players like Hannah over summer, not a single Mention that we would struggle with some deluded ones talking playoffs! I don't think it's too late to bring in a new man, and move up the table, this league is woeful this year luckily for us, nobody stands out.
The main problem is the fan base is getting worse by the week, people just don't want to spend their corn on this mess that were being served up, and it's not hard to see why. I'm not sure we will ever recover in terms of gates, people has fallen out of love with the fan owned model in my opinion. I'm all for it personally, but some fans are very fickle.

What we should be looking to do is something like they have in Germany, a certain percentage of fan ownership but outside investment Well Germany has the advantage that with the exception of a couple of 'company' teams for historical reasons, it is the law for the Bundesliga, so that creates a level playing field that is rather different to the problems we have here. I don't oppose outside investor investment, but I would suggest that without control any investors are going to be hard, if not impossible, to come by (just ask Telford fans). We know that in world football fan ownership has the chance to take you to the very top (Real Madrid and Barcelona for example), and so far in England to L1 (the Wombles), although Wimbledon have had some rich fan investors to help them along the way without the Trust losing control (but like for like at this stage of our history we are still ahead of them in terms of promotions etc., it should be remembered). A compromise position is setting up a share investment scheme where the Trust keeps control but outside (or internal) investors can buy shares in the club that can then in theory make a profit at some point in the future but do not lead to ownership (the bait is that this is a tax deductible investment under venture capital trust rules). FCUM raised a lot of money a few years ago doing this, and we were told a good while ago that the board was looking at doing the same for us, however it seems to have stalled - perhaps we can have an update from anyone on the board about why that is?

The crowds were always going to drop when we stopped winning the leagues let's not kid ourselves that attences would keep on increasing once we found our level and we stopped running away with the leagues, also this league has changed due to the amount of money most teams are spending on their squads we just cannot compete it's like the corner shop going up against the supermarkets. I think it inevitable that we are going to drop down to Conferance North eventually as more and more money led teams get promoted from the league below, one thing that won't change is we will still be Chester Fc.

Forget ever seeing the Football League again it will NEVER happen I don't think we will see league football under the current modal ,but would settle for the odd F.A cup run, a chance at the playoffs and maybe a trophy final.Even this seems beyond us at the moment. But without some heavy investment that's the best we can hope for.

Instead, I'd just say it feels we are in a trough at the moment and a new manager can only help us start heading in the right direction.

No leaders on the pitch or in boardroom - AGM soon with some new blood onto the board. We need recognised faces to be honest but can't see that happening. Just imagine a CFU board of Howell, Olerenshaw, Durkin, Povey etc!
no money, - biggest budget since reformation, I'm sure Maguire is looking to better that next season, however with the struggles this season can't see that happening.
a vastly worse squad than most people are admitting. - still think trhis is the best squad we have had. The starting 11 is the best for sure. Slightly unbalanced but believe if the right manager comes in ad plays to their strengths and gets some confidence in them we will have no issues. A new manager could be the spark we need.
No home win in over 9 months and unlikely to get one any time soon. - Personally think with a new manager arriving and beatable opposition, we could see it on Saturday.
Crowds dwindling. - can't argue with that. We need some wins badly, not just for the points.
An unfit, clueless squad. - The new manager needs to get them fitter I agree, I don't know what goes on in training but the amounts of goals concede late as we drop off is unbelievable. Tactical or fitness related, could be both, but it needs rectifying.
I still think this season has potential, the new manager just needs to get us out the relegation zone so we can breath and start getting points on the board consistently.
See you all Saturday, let's get behind the new manager no matter who it is. I've made it clear I want Bignot but no matter who it is* we need to be there and show them what we are about.
*If it is Higgins I might cry
