Hugely controversial topic among supporters, players and everyone around football. However, one thing article really caught my eye after the England Womens international earlier this week: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-41337127Personally think this is getting ridiculous, it clearly relates to the shirts worn by Tranmere players. I think the worlds going mad, everyone seems scared to say anything that 'may' be taken out of context. For god sake we're all human beings, equals. If someone says i'm going to watch the 'All Blacks' i don't scream racist at them. Thoughts? Basically a silly overreaction by someone trying too hard not to offend. I don't get particularly annoyed by actions like this as they're well-meaning and it's not really that important, but it gets people wound up and ultimately doesn't help progress towards race equality. Whoever did this needs to be gently told that although they meant well, they were too eager to censor something and that should be the end of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this story is on the front page of the Daily Mail tomorrow. I think the key word is context here. For people who are looking to be offended and to support their own virtue-signalling they will find something in virtually any phrase or comment to express their disgust or disapproval. Couple this with people and/or businesses petrified of litigation nowadays and/or damaging the "brand" and you create an environment where such things flourish because they are reluctant to contest such allegations. Don't get me wrong, racism, sexism etc etc are wrong (don't get me started on "inappropriate" or "unacceptable") and should be dealt with strongly but you have to ask where it will all end if it carries on like this (think Orwell's 1984?) As for Sampson, I think there's more to this than is currently public knowledge and I'll reserve judgement until I know more These are my personal views, people are perfectly entitled to agree or disagree with them without me taking umbrage!

The thing I find most amazing about Sampson is how a Welshman openly wears an England shirt. No amount of salary would make me do that. This isn't an anti English post I wouldn't expect it the other way round either.
Oh god, just had a flashback to the Bobby Gould years!!!

I don't think the Tranmere banner incident which is clearly utterly ridiculous is comparable to the Sampson issue where we don't really know what happened. Some of his statements appear to be at least questionable.
Tranmere on the other hand play in white which is what the banner refers to. .

The Tranmere thing is a complete farce, people worrying about being offensive.
The Mark Sampson thing is a bit more interesting & I don't have much to add to the discussuion that hasn't already been mentioned other than the fact that Eluko is a qualified solicitor who didn't report it until well after the alleged incident; not damning in & of itself but suggests to me she didn't feel that strongly about it initially.
My personal opinion is that if he said what's been alleged, it wasn't racist, it was probably meant as banter. Not that it seems funny like but that's my take.
