Just had to create a thread to say how impressive LRT was today should have got MOM he was immense - Solid at the back but fantastic going forward so strong and quick - had a great game and was given licence to get forward as McClown had him penned in - licence to thrill now

LRT has looked okay in every game I've seen him play this season. I think people have exaggerated how poor he has been.
Under McCarthy, he and Halls had the most thankless task on the pitch. They weren't allowed to cross the half-way line and in possession they had no option other than to lump it up the pitch. No full back in the division would impress in those circumstances.
Yesterday, when they were given clear instructions and freedom, they were both loads better. LRT in particular showed what a threat he can be.

He was my suggestion for MOTM too. To see him beast down the flank and skin three opponents to create dangerous openings on three different occasions in the first half was a sight.

Someone, I think Billy, mentioned he could play left midfield, and I would echo that. He is far better going forward than defending and with a bit of licence under MB to get forward we may see a good player there. I think if we had better defensive options available he would be worth giving a go further up field but as it stands we can't.

Full backs who can defend seem to be a rarity at all levels of the game these days. |
