From MB's post match interview:
"The one thing you will get from us is we will be positive. It won't be any different if we are home or away."
"For me they (the players) are only going to get better. Imagine what they have taken on in one training session, then imagine after half-a-dozen games, a dozen games, half a season, a season, three or four years - that's the plan."
What a refreshing change!
I suspect the JM era will become a distant memory very quickly

Can't really believe how much of a completely different team we looked yesterday - played with a new lease of life, knocking three, four, five-pass moves together - OK some of that didn't quite come off at times but these players are Conference players and at least they're attempting to play entertaining, expansive football. The opposition were the most unfit side I've seen since the Evostik days but as a chap retorted to me in the queue for a pint afterwards, perhaps we played so well we made them look that way.
We should rightly remain grounded and not count our chickens after one game (remember the last manager?!) but to witness such a stark contrast already is very pleasing.

Yeah would totally agree, too early to judge a manager, made that mistake last time. However the attitude of the players and the management was incomparable, and the fans could finally respond to the performance of the players. It's so hard to see any negatives to yesterday at all, Shaw will be a prominent fixture in this side when fully fit. Only thing I would say is that was MB wants us to play will require us to be a lot fitter than we were under JM, which will take a bit of time. Still can't get over how good Akintunde has the potential to be, he's a lad we can get money for and should look to tie down in January to make sure we get that. If he adds more goals to his game he won't be playing in the national league long.

It's amazing how much difference one game makes. It was almost as if we had 11 on loan players yesterday, they were unrecognisable from the shower that were playing earlier this season!
Incidentally, how funny that we win a game and certain prime pillocks, sorry, alleged fans, stop posting...

It wasn't the result that amazed me, it was the level of performance. For Bignot to get that from them in one session is an incredible achievement. To hear him speak after the game was a pleasure, talking about Eastleigh and how we're going to go and attack to get an early goal.
Under JM, he'd be watching the DVDs now and trying to form a plan to stop their left back and cling on to a 0-0.

I do like the way he's coming across. We shouldn't get carried away though and we should remember that it's easier to give a good interview when we win. Even McCarthy used to manage it. Hard to remember now but during that good run around this time last year, we loved what he was saying after games. Problem was he sounded terrible when we lost, and that was the case right from the start - remember the early season loss to Maidstone where he said something like "they were better than we thought they'd be!"
Anyway, great start from Marcus and let's hope it continues.

Apart from the last couple of games (where I think he knew the end was coming) the one thing you couldn't accuse JM of, was not being positive in his interviews, and that was part of the problem !!! Many a game where we'd played poorly or suffered a heavy defeat, he'd come out with the usual rubbish of how outstanding the lads were etc, when you just wanted him to admit we were awful, and that the performance wasn't good enough etc. It was patronising to the fans who'd payed good money and obviously seen a different performance to the one he had.

It is hard to come across well in post-match interviews when your team is losing, because whatever you say it's going to be picked at, but it's something he was particularly bad at from the off and only seemed to get worst at. I think the key is to keep it brief and to the point. Don't ramble on or try to divert attention away from the match in question. Acknowledge what went wrong and say what you're going to do to address it. Not only was his talk patronising as you say, but it also started to reveal a lot about his mentality and you began to conclude that his poor interviews and the team's poor performances came hand in hand. If you won't acknowledge a problem, you can't hope to solve it.

Marcus Bignot: "I want to be back in the EFL, as do Chester. It's a dream now, but if you've got a vision, dreams come true." 😁🔵⚽️

Can I add a word for Alan Devonshire. Never once did he behave in a way that so many visiting non-players behave. Not continually haranguing the referee (remember Solihull) and generally just talking to his own players and quietly doing his job. I felt it made a refreshing change added to MB being so animated (in a positive way).

Did a good job at Braintree, and proved with Maidenhead that it was not a flash in the pan.

I suspect the JM era will become a distant memory very quickly I would love to know what went through McCarthys mind when he saw the result on Saturday and realised that Bignot had achieved more in one day than he had done all year. Would he have realised that he is not a football manager or would he continue to have delusions.

His dad used to play for Chester in the fifties. Yes, I believe he did - but slightly before my time as I started following Chester in 1958.
