For some fun over a cuppa - for Chester... What is your favourite headed goal? What is your favourite long shot? What is your favourite solo goal? What is your favourite free-kick? Only header that sticks out for me was going way back to 2001/02 when Gary Brabin connected a cross to fire an absolute rocket of a header into the top corner.
Favourite solo goal, Junior Agogo v Cheltenham Town
Free Kick - Rooney vs Goats
Long shot - Spencer Whelan scoring from the halfway line v Colchester United at home. Neil Fisher had earlier scored a screamer from the edge of the box as well.

What is your favourite headed goal? - Michael Wilde v Woodley Sports. Diving header to finish a brilliant move. I remember he was going through a bit of a goal drought (by his standards) at the time so that was a fantastic way to end it.
What is your favourite long shot? - Alex Smith v Barnet, in 2003 I think. Right on half time, seemed a mile out and almost ripped the net off the goal frame.
What is your favourite solo goal? - Junior Agogo v Cheltenham
What is your favourite free-kick? - probably one of Rooney's sadly. To go with something different that sticks in the mind, I remember a superb curling one from McIntyre at Northwich

What is your favourite headed goal? Tom Shaw at Tranmere
What is your favourite long shot? Alex brown at home against Chorley. Rocket from about 30 yards!
What is your favourite solo goal? It's got to Sarcevic at Colwyn Bay, unreal run and goal.
What is your favourite free-kick? Hate to say it because he's a horrible little t**t but, John Rooney against the goats.

Free-kick - Matty McGinn's free kick away against Colwyn Bay gets my vote - partly because it wasn't Rooney who scored it!
Long shot - Graham Abel vs Wolves in the 80s (I was right behind it - seemed to take an age to go in, yet you knew as soon as he'd hit it that it was in!)
Header - Agree with Lobster - Wilde's against Woodley. I couldn't remember who it was against!
Solo goal - Agogo

What is your favourite headed goal? Paul Linwood away at Wrexham.
What is your favourite long shot? Graham Abel at home to Wolves takes some beating.
What is your favourite solo goal? Sarcevic away at Colwyn Bay. Unbelievable goal.
What is your favourite free-kick? I remember Billy Wright nearly breaking the net against Preston at Sealand Road. Rooneys was special. Doughty at Shrewsbury...

What is your favourite headed goal? - I'd agree with Wilde's goal against Woodley Sports
What is your favourite long shot? - Alex Brown against Chorley or Ryan Lowe's thunder bolt against Peterborough.
Memory is failing me today I'd agree with Sarcevic's solo goal against Colwyn Bay and I'm sure Roberto Martinez scored a cracking Free Kick against Bristol Rovers in 2005

How can anyone look beyond St.Milner for the solo goal category?

Headed goal - Wilde v Woodley Sports 2010/11. Absolute classic headed goal....I'm sure I remember thinking "this is in" the second the ball got crossed over.
Free kick - Nick Richardson v Shrewsbury in 99/00 to seal our only win at Gay Meadow.
Solo goal - Agogo v Cheltenham.
Long shot - tough one but would plump for Rod Thomas' wonderstrike at Macc' in 97-98 even though we lost the game.

Rico's free kick was outstanding as well. Shame it came under that clown Smith

Favourite long shot still stands out in my memory, since 1970 at Sealand Road. Chester 2 (Cheetham, Pountney) Shrewsbury Town 1 (Wood) – League Cup First Round – 9 August 1970 A first ever League Cup game between the sides and Blues fans witness one of the greatest goals at Sealand Road, A 40 yard thunderbolt from Dave Pountney gives Chester a late victory. It was Pountney’s home debut after signing from Shrewsbury during the summer. Shrewsbury fans loudly chanting "Pountney reject, Pountney reject" when he collected the ball, just in his own half, advanced three or four paces forward and hit the most ferocious shot I've seen and it was still rising when it hit th back of the net. Really quiet Shrewsbury fans afterwards. It sold the principle to me that action speaks louder than words.

Surprised nobody's said Durrell's halfway goal at Boreham Wood last season for best long range. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Chester goal with the 'wow' factor that one had.

I especially like the way Howard started the move too!
I think Nathan Jarman scored another great volley in the same season at Solihull Moors.

To me, his was better than Beckham's as he was running with the ball. He could actually have a nomination for the best volley too - in an early season game against Dagenham & Redbridge. Pity there was no-one behind the goal as I always think goals look better with a full stand behind!

From Lobster:- I'd like to add a new category if I may - best volley.
Great shout, this was the best goal I saw at Sealand Road that sort of fits into that category. 12 seconds in my favorite player in that team David Pugh.

For some fun over a cuppa - for Chester... What is your favourite headed goal? What is your favourite long shot? What is your favourite solo goal? What is your favourite free-kick? Headed goal? The one that stands out for me is Rod McDonald against Darlington on his debut in 1996. I can't remember who crossed the ball into the box but it was a perfect cross and as soon as McDonald connected to it, you knew it was going in. Favourite long shot? Spencer Whelan against Colchester in 1998. Yes, the Colchester goalie was impeded and it was a bit of a fluke, but a goal from the halfway line, from a CB doesn't happen very often does it? Remember Neil Fisher scoring a peach in the same game too. Favourite solo goal is also my favourite Chester goal of all time. Tony Hemmings against Mansfield in 2000. Stole the ball off Luke Beckett on the halfway line, ran like lightning along the left, nutmegged a Mansfield defender on the edge of the box then unleashed a rocket into the top right hand corner of the net. What a game. What a goal. What a player. Favourite free kick? This one is easy. Nick Richardson at Shrewsbury in 1999. Befitting of our Argentinian style kit we wore that night. The scenes in the away end were something to behold.

Remembered another brilliant header - Luke Beckett at Rochdale in 2000 from Angus Eve's cross. I remember some people arguing that Eve's cross was pinpoint and others saying it was woefully overhit and it only looked pinpoint because Beckett bust a gut to get on the end of it. It was often hard to work out whether Eve was any good or not - I'd say he was but he didn't seem to take playing for us very seriously.
A long range goal I'd love to see again was Ellison's against Sheffield Wednesday in the LDV in 2004. Probably not as good as I remember it, but it seemed sensational and so out of the blue. Never seen any footage of it since.

Pretty much go with most already mentioned, slightly left field alternative selection though....
Headed goal? - Clare at Telford, the importance of it and in front of 1,500 away fans under the lights.
Favourite long shot? - Kevin Roberts at Wrexham, 25 yard volley to put us in front. Underrated goal and probably a bit forgotten about.
Favourite solo goal? - Sarcevic at Colwyn Bay, virtually the whole length of the pitch by himself.
Favourite free-kick? - Ben Davies at Wolves, meant nothing but a cracker.
