For some fun over a cuppa - for Chester... What is your favourite headed goal? What is your favourite long shot? What is your favourite solo goal? What is your favourite free-kick? Headed goal? The one that stands out for me is Rod McDonald against Darlington on his debut in 1996. I can't remember who crossed the ball into the box but it was a perfect cross and as soon as McDonald connected to it, you knew it was going in. Favourite long shot? Spencer Whelan against Colchester in 1998. Yes, the Colchester goalie was impeded and it was a bit of a fluke, but a goal from the halfway line, from a CB doesn't happen very often does it? Remember Neil Fisher scoring a peach in the same game too. Favourite solo goal is also my favourite Chester goal of all time. Tony Hemmings against Mansfield in 2000. Stole the ball off Luke Beckett on the halfway line, ran like lightning along the left, nutmegged a Mansfield defender on the edge of the box then unleashed a rocket into the top right hand corner of the net. What a game. What a goal. What a player. Favourite free kick? This one is easy. Nick Richardson at Shrewsbury in 1999. Befitting of our Argentinian style kit we wore that night. The scenes in the away end were something to behold. I jumped up and landed on and twisted my ankle after that goal ....agony and ecstacy both at same time.

I agree there's been some crackers.
Best Headed Goal: Any by Steve Johnson or Graham Abel v Sheff Weds away in the FA Cup. Best Long Shot: Graham Abel v Wolves. Best Solo Goal: Sarcevic at Colwyn Bay although it lost me £100 with Paddy Power. Best Free Kick: Rooney v Woking away 2015/16
Take a look at the goals from 95/96, especially our 5-1 home win over Lincoln.

What is your favourite long shot? Paul sanderson vs goats in 84 rocket from 20 yards into the kop goal for a late winner, close 2nd Derek Jeffries vs Port Vale in 78 a rocket from a good 30 yards out into kop goal, a better goal but nothing beats a winner against auld enemy

What is your favourite free-kick? Rooney vs goats

With regard to headed goals. There would have been headed goals in the Ron Davies era when the big man just bundled the GK and the ball into the net and in those days they counted. I seem to remember as a 10 or 11 year old seeing that happen on a fairly regular basis.

I'd like to add a new category if I may - best volley. Bring back that green and black strip ...I'd forgotten that we'd used that quite lucky strip.

I loved it - a bit different. Get sick of the same old yellow all the time, especially the current mess of an away kit.

For the headed goal not many said lewis turner v Boston surprised at this Open to interpretation really... I judged mine solely on how good the goal was, not the importance of the goal, otherwise my choices would have definitely been different (McGinn vs Northwich etc!)

I remember Sir Cyril connecting with a header from a corner at the Harry Mac end, rose like a salmon and powered the ball into the roof of the net, can't remember who It was against but the way he jumped, hung in the air and connected with the ball sticks in my memory.
