Just seen who are still bottom of League 2.
I can't help a little chuckle after seeing Dale Vince say on TV that all the fans love his veggie propaganda, when some of them clearly smuggle meat pies into the ground. Isn't it great to see a hobby club doing so well.
Conversely I don't fancy our appalling run against them resuming next season (11 consecutive losses iirc).
Thoughts?

With a bit of luck he will see his arse at being at the bottom pull the plug and that shit little team will head back to where it belongs and we will get 6 points off them next year

Be great to play them next season. Means we either get promoted, or avoid relegation!

Doubly entertaining as Cooper is their manager, who I can’t stand.

I'm not sure what the going rate is today for an average league two wage? You would of thought with his backing they would be able to get players who can hold their own at that level. I can't help but snigger when I see their goal difference with a - figure like Moscow weather. Friendly enough club. Agree with Anders not a Cooper fan. Let's hope he withdraws his backing and they fold.

I did smile when I seen them struggling. Please correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the financial fair play rule come in once you enter the football league. Last I read your can't have a playing budget more then 70% on your income so FGR may struggle with crowds of 600 even though there is many loopholes to get around this. Similar situation at PSG currently

Seeing as his company "sponsor" the club that'll be one way of negotiating that loophole - a million pound sponsorship deal per season etc.
Must agree with the general thrust of the thread - fantastic to see them doing so poorly.

Funnily enough, we were discussing this at Saturday's game.
Have they reached their limit for the amount of money Vince is currently investing? If so, it's stick or twist time; accept this is their level or throw more dosh at it to hopefully progress further up the pyramid. I personally reckon that to progress the investment required needs to grow almost exponentially e.g £2-3m for L2, £10-20m for L2, £50-100m for Championship (not scientific but you get the gist). That said, he's gone public with big plans re. the stadium etc (including moving location - MK Dons?) and money currently doesn't seem to be a problem.
Then again, he might just say "to hell with it" and pull the plug
Either way, there's a lesson to us all out there but particularly for the likes of FGR, Fylde, Salford etc
In our case, let's just take it slowly (not too slowly) and grow "organically" and sustainably. It'll be best in the long run

I see plans for the new eco park/stadium have been announced as put on hold/pulled the plug this morning. I wonder if he may turn the drip feed off for good? This of course would see them bankrupt let's hope so

If they do go bankrupt, I'd feel sorry for the true FGR fans who were there before he started chucking money at it. It's bound to happen one day though, he won't be there forever. He makes a big deal about "sustainability" at his company, but FGR are one of the least sustainable clubs around!

Think if you read the reports properly it is only the eco business park plans which have been shelved for now, although they remain in the "county plan" as an aspiration for the future. It is reported that this will allow all current efforts and planning to be focused on footballing developments. This probably means that footballing developments are more likely to get approval and be completed. Although I am a bit of a traditionalist myself, I find it quite refreshing that someone is prepared to make a medium to long term alternative approach in an industry which for the most part is driven by short termism and failure of the traditional model.

Building a 5000 seater stadium is hardly preparing for life in the upper echelons of the EFL anyway they will be back in the National next year so I suppose its a decent stadium at this level

A Football Club that is not self sufficient and Just before their success they were operating on a 2.5 million loss. Without getting lucky and getting a decent draw like Man Utd away in the Cup they will only see their owner pumping millions after millions in without nothing to show for it. It won't be long before he takes his vegan pies elsewhere.

I don't like Dale Vince. I don't like people that impose their beliefs on others (in his case vegetarianism). I also felt that he treated Trevor Horsley appallingly. Trevor Horsley was a much better benefactor for FGR, although probably not as rich as Vince, but a genuine lover of the football team. Vince just uses FGR as a means to advance his own ego and wealth.

Ironic really that Vince supports sustainability in society but not in football.

Don't like FGR because of their owner but would rather Port Vale and Chesterfield come down for selfish reasons (easier games for me to get to).
