Just seen that he is Tranmere's director of football. Funny life can be ....I photographed him about 10 years ago for a company he had become director of. I hadn't realised who he was and asked him what he had done before. He had been Chairman of the FA. He told me he had been a professional football years back. I told him I supported Chester and he was well impressed. Bear in mind this took place in the city of London. He went on to tell me scored a hatrick against us.....He then told me my next subject was an ex Chester player! Quite a bizarre and surreal shoot. The player was Graham Birks...we had a great chat....life does throw up some memorable coincidences and more the better for being related to Chester FC. Some on here will no doubt find this tedious but others may get it!

Did he pay you or just do what he has done to CFC regarding Alabi? Palios has always come across as a bit of a deceptive character to me. Not the type of person I'd want running my club!

To be fair, the delay with the Alabi money is not his or Tranmere's fault, it's down to the tribunal fee not being set yet.

Yes it is. He can make a genuine offer for Alabi to avoid the need for the matter going to Tribunal. He's probably hoping his mates at the FA make a derisory award.

I totally agree, and feel it is a disgrace that with their resources, Tranmere cannot do the decent thing and make a fair offer for Alabi, without the obvious and somewhat unfair disadvantage to Chester of having to wait for the outcome of a tribunal. I find it incredible that it will take over 6 months for an FA tribunal to resolve this.

The question is though, "Did he value him at zero when he signed him" ? Having a player available for free (whilst you assess his ability / capabilities) before deciding what to pay is not really on. Also, your Gateshead and Bell analogy doesn't hold water, as Alabi is not on loan at Tranmere, and we don't have Bell on the bench whilst waiting for a tribunal outcome.

Lets be honest, he wasn't a product of our youth team, he was out of contract and he signed for a team in the same division. Compensation for his 'development' will be limited.

Tranmere did not want to part with any money for Alabi so Maguire told them it's heading to a Tribunal unless it gets to a deal suitable for both parties but Tranmere are still not budging
