In my view the recruitment of Bignot (by the useless Maguire) who has a poor track record will lead to relegation. As regards your view of Bignot, I think you may be alone in that. Whopper gets a lot of stick on here but he is right about the appointment of Bignot. Had the appointment been made purely on football abilities, there were better candidates, but Marcus was appointed because he 'fits' the ethos of the club, in the same way that McCarthy was. Whether he has the ability to avoid relegation remains to be seen.

Why do his threads always get more responses than anyone else's? It's like the more bollocks you talk on here, the more interaction you get. Ignore him! Coz I debate the issues and nobody else will. You didn't ignore me you hypocrite. LOL

Why do fans have a pop at me all the time on here for raising valid points ?
They should be having a pop at the incompetent Maguire before me.

The only game where we looked a good team was Maidenhead. They lost 4-0 at Torquay next game.
We battled really hard at Tranmere and earned a point through hard work and keeping a good shape. Also had the bit of luck you need in games like that.
Woking wasn't good, and today was as bad as any JMc game had been.
The problem MB has is trying to make a team who play his style of football, out of a bunch of players that don't look capable of doing that. It could be that it gets worse before it gets better.
MB today appeared to pick a team so that he could have a look at some other players. It backfired badly. If he watched Kiddie he didn't learn anything by the looks of how we played.
He seems to want an expansive style of play, he's ordering players to move wide and away from the ball etc. Not sure that's smart when we're getting outplayed all over the pitch. He did change from 442 to 4231 midway through the first half, which helped. Question why did we have it so badly wrong at the start? Question how can you play just two in the middle of one of them is Turnbull, who can't get around? Question why does no-one run a channel when the full back has the ball?
You can't blame MB for how things are. But he got it badly wrong today in what was a very important match for the club, and the fans.
Jury out for me.

I will respond to the thread question. On the evidence of today then perhaps not. At least he is saying and talking about what all could see after today’s game. One assumes he had had the all clear regarding full time training. Clearly the culture of us as a dual income option isn’t going to help us out as a football club. He needs to be judged after he is given a chance to stamp his authority on things. It was disappointing to hear the odd rumble against him. He is not to blame for previous incompetence and the assembly of an unbalanced squad. I hope he is able to beg steal and borrow to give us a fighting chance as on today’s showing we haven’t got a hope in hell of staying up with this bunch.

Can Bignot turn it around and keep us up? Without drastically changing the squad, no.
Is Bignot the right man? Absolutely.

If and more likely when we go down will Maguire be shown the door or is he untouchable. He must bear a lot of the blame for the sorry state we find ourselves in.

Too early to start writing Bignot off. A year ago Wrexham got knocked out of the FA Cup by Stamford just after Dean Keates took over from Gary Mills, which was probably a similar sort of instance where he was initially left working with the mess of a squad he'd inherited. Keates was able to make changes to the squad as results picked up, the problem though is Bignot may not be able to bring proper additions in as things stand.
I think the next two home games will give us a better indication of what this side is really capable of, against Boring Wood and Barrow.

Some of them might do OK. Got to be worth a go. In some ways I agree with you, Sam Hughes has shown what can be done. However, the gap between youth and first team is a big one. Matty Waters has shown glimpses but so did fans favourite Tom Peers. Where is he now? I hope things turn out better for James Jones but I think from the reports about him as a youth team player he has got it. Bignot may give him a run once he's dealt with current first team underachievers. What does worry me though is that after a shambolic display yesterday, it will almost certainly deter fans who were disillusioned after JM from returning and were prepared to give Bignot a chance. Yesterday's performance and result has damaged the club further.

If Jones has the pace and strength to go with his height then he needs to be given an opportunity. That centre half pairing has the turning circle of the Bismarck.

No they haven't but what can he do? He's inherited this disgraceful bunch and there is no real scope to change it. Well done to the board in allowing this mess to happen! He has made some mistakes - dropping Shaw yesterday was a prime one. However, he's desperately trying to tinker with a squad that quite simply doesn't have the attributes or desire to succeed. Until he has had chance to bring a few players in and ship out some of JM's 'superstars' then it is very difficult to judge him. It's the board's job to do everything within their power to provide some leeway for him to try and compensate for their mismanagement. That's far easier said than done, though.

I think MB deserves the chance to build his own team, but I feel that will probably happen from the Conference North unless a miracle happens. It doesn't have to be the doom it appears. I feel that Tarvin Blue is right about the board. They got us into this mess and learnt nothing from the Burr fiasco. If we do have some of the rainy day money left it needs to be used to bring in a defender and a winger at the very least. What will happen with Maguire if and when we go down? Surely we won't be able to afford his salary in the league below. I hope the players fall into line over this extra training because most of them are a disgrace where it comes to fitness and conditioning.

It's the board's job to do everything within their power to provide some leeway for him to try and compensate for their mismanagement. That's far easier said than done, though. Totally agree. Another difficulty for Bignot is that most of the JM "Superstars" signed in the summer are experienced pros, many having been round the block. (turnbull, halls, Hannah mccombe and even James) . After the easy life of the JM regime, I suspect it would be a difficult situation for any new manager having to deal with this inherited group, who will potentially have loud/influential/disruptive voices in the dressing room, resistant to change and a different approach. I don't know how the order of full time training will pan out, but hopefully it may persuade one or two of these to go. To assert his Authority right now, I feel he needs to at least make an example of Halls and Turnbull , even if it causes waves. The introduction of a bit of youth (James Jones?) may help dilute a little of the current malaise. Everyone including the board and Mr Maguire should now acknowledge that this is a total mess, and MB will need all the help he can get. Whilst, I agree MB made some tactical and selection errors yesterday , anyone would need a miracle in turning things round with this shower. Also strange to see that that MB is being criticised by some on here after a handful of matches, yet McCarthy was defended by many and allowed to stay on after no home wins etc etc for 8 months !

Addressing the main post then the answer would be at this stage no. But is it really helpful to now start questioning the manager who is having to work with the dross that was left him by Macca. Whatever you think about the appointment, surely we now need to get behind the manager and give him every chance to sort it out?
At least he was admitting that the performance was utter bollocks as oppose to McCarthy claiming we were unlucky. And stating that the fans had a right to their opinions as oppose to McCarthy bleating about negativity.

Ever since Macca was left to his own incompetent devices (almost a year ago) we've looked a bottom four side. It's unreasonable to expect MB to turn all that damage around in only a few weeks.
That said, the total lack of character and commitment shown yesterday is a huge concern and its not something you can solely blame Macca or the Macca apologists on the board for. The 'new manager effect' has worn off shockingly fast. We need to identify why.

I think MB's stock with the fans is still pretty high although yesterday's farce may have taken the gloss off a little bit.
Next Saturday could be fascinating - to see how the crowd, whatever that may be, greet the players when they come on the pitch.
The negative atmosphere when JM was in charge was aimed at both the manager and the players, next week I feel there's only one group who'll come under criticism. How they respond to both yesterday and the potentially hostile atmosphere next Saturday will be telling. Personally, I have some doubt as to their mental strength to handle such a situation and therein lies a major factor in our implosion this season.

Bignot isn't a miracle worker and things will not change over night, I don't envy his job one bit. If bignot is to keep this club in this division with this shower of shite squad he has, he deserves to be placed straight into that chester fc hall of fame.
I wonder if bignot realised the size of this job before applying?

The jury's out, he has only had four games and inherited shite. However, I can't imagine Barrow at the helm would have resulted in such an abysmal performance yesterday. I think the MB big I am attitude will spectacularly backfire in time.

I'm fully aware you're trying to find wind people up, but I thought I'd answer your question anyway. Yes, things are infinitely better. We now have a manager who is furious at what he has seen and pulls no punches about it. He's seen enough in 4 games to push us towards moving full time and clearly sees the shortcomings of the squad and the need for 'pacy' and 'powerful' players, something we've been crying out for. We finally have a manager who has his eyes wide open and knows what needs to be done. At the start of the season we had a man so criminally out of his depth, who genuinely believed in his own delusional ramblings. Not trying to wind people up at all. I am posting my honest views about Maguire. More and more fans are waking up to how incompetent he is. Bignot was a shocking appointment by Maguire.

What makes you think Barrow has that attitude? Well you want him here as he is a big legend and will stamp his authority on the squad, showing the ‘big I am’ character Any manager can scream and shout, it doesn't mean they have authority. That comes from natural leadership which Alex Ferguson had. Add experience and tactical nouse, and I think he was the best available candidate.
