Mahon never had problems with injuries until the last year. He has played a lot of games for Vauxhalls and us over the last few years and perhaps his style of play is catching up with his body as he gets older. He must be one of the most fouled players in the league and he used to get hacked at Vauxhall too, perhaps the rigours of that means his body is unable to take the knocks like he used to. Either that as it's bad luck. It was a pretty nasty challenge that wiped him out this time. I'm more worried about Hannah who seems to pick up more non contact injuries like muscle strains etc, as they are the injuries that point to genuine weaknesses in the body.

It felt like he missed most of last season. He was out for at least 3 months, so how did he achieve the figures stated? Three months is about a third of a season, so 63% involvement sounds about right.

I'm more worried that a player injured at this club is, for some reason, then out of action for an extraordinarily long time and we never hear about his progress or anticipated date of return.

Going back to the question of part-time/full-time, I'm often told in my job that I am "salaried", which basically means I stay until the work gets done. I don't find myself regularly doing overtime but I like to think that's because I keep on top of my workload. If I started working unproductively, or if we suddenly got hit with a load of work, I would be expected to stay until the work was done. In theory at least, the more overtime I do, the more money the company is making, and the more likely I am to receive a bonus at the end of the year.
Looking at CFC at the moment, we're in the bottom four, we've been knocked out of the cup against lower league opposition, we're not scoring goals, we're letting in too many and several of the players look unfit. In other words, the work is not getting done. It doesn't seem unreasonable therefore to ask the players to put more hours in with an aim to getting things on track. If they do this, I don't know whether or not they have bonus incentives as part of their contracts, but even if they don't, winning games and having cup runs is its own bonus in football, and improves your career prospects in the game.
