We should of had new players at the club by now. Our new manager on his first day should of been on the phone getting new players in. How many games do we need to lose before we see a new player. Unless he has told the board in his interview he can keep us up with our team. Just to get the job. Because we all know this team isn't good enough.

How do you propose to pay for these players?

I actually think, like many of us, MB would have looked at this squad and reflected that with a bit of organisation and motivation then we could start winning games. The Maidenhead result and performance would have only evidenced that further. However, since then it has become clear just how limited this squad is and just how many players are here to pick up a wage, rather than play for the shirt. I've no idea what he does about it, though. Hope by going full time he pisses a few off and they leave? Even then, what quality can he bring in when we can't afford to pay transfer fees? How the board first allowed JM to continue and then allowed him to sign players on 2 year contracts is managerial incompetence. Mark Maguire and all those involved in that decision making should hang their heads in shame.

We've brought in a young striker from Derby on a month's loan, and a back up keeper ex Liverpool and Southport.
I think MB is going about changing as much as he can now. As Garvin Blue says, let's hope he manages to clear some out. No idea how he'll do that mid season. We probably need 3 or 4 out as a minimum, just to allow us to bring some in.
MB's teams have tended to be athletic and pacy. This bunch isn't his type of team. Managers are creatures of habit. I don't see how he can change this lot into his type of team. That worries me.

The board have payed off two managers with money that wouldn't of been in the players budget.

The board have payed off two managers with money that wouldn't of been in the players budget. That money may well have appeared in future players budgets. It has to come from somewhere. We don't have a magic pot of money hidden away. By the way Hannibal would like to point out that it's 'would have' not 'would of'. 😀

He told me outside the ground yesterday that we are stuck in the sense that our players aren’t tall and physical, or short and pacy, we are stuck in between. From what he says, the plan is to go full time, get rid of a few players and bring in the tall+physical or short+pacy type player. We need some pace in the squad badly as he said himself, so I’m going to guess once a few, hopefully leave, we will see a few powerful quick players come in.

I used to watch Runcorn years ago in the national league or conference as it was as I was brought up there. I stopped going after I'd finished Uni and relocated to Chester and the club was basically on it's knees. It's now defunct. Threw my hat in the ring as a cestrian of 20 years when the new club was formed and have been a seaosn ticket holder ever since. However I do remember a season that started like this for Runcorn, and the then manager John Carroll got us out of it by building a team of dirty bastards (Gary Brabin was one of them) who went toe to toe with the other teams and muscled their way out of trouble. Part of our issue I think is that we need a shed load more steel and power in there. That would complement any players with pace and trickery. On those days of course, very few teams were part time and football was ruled by money in the way it is now though.

I take it you didn't disagree with him and tell him 'we will be fine' like you have been telling us all season. Who is going to take any of this lot we make surplus?

Problem is, in a nutshell, we're broke
The Cup debacle yesterday makes it all the worse.
It seems we're right at the limit of the budget so, unless we can generate some extra dosh, we're in the classic situation of releasing players before recruiting.
Yesterday reinforces the view of many, if not most, that the current squad is nowhere near the standard required to compete or stay in this league. The 3,4,5 or so players necessary to bring us up to an acceptable standard need to be a quantum leap better than what we've got. There is no way they'll come cheap. Indeed, nominal transfer fees may be required to prise them from wherever they are. Question - when was the last time we paid any sort of fee?
So, I think we've just got to let MB wheel and deal as he sees fit within the current limits.
If he can unearth some gems at minimal cost, all well and good, we might stand a chance of staying up. If he can't, then I think we're doomed but that may just allow MB to mould the team for the longer term.
Either way, I have real confidence that he will somehow regenerate this club

I think I would be correct in saying that any use of the "rainy day fund" would require a vote of CFU members would it not?
I think we're actually way beyond the limit of our budget now - £100k was added onto last seasons budget - we've been getting attendances that aren't break even territory and we're having to pay off Jon McCarthy and Chris Iwelumo. The financials at the next AGM I imagine are going to be pretty bleak.

Is Iwelumo no longer at the club ?? Think he’s been shown the door. Hasn’t been at training for a number of weeks.

MB has got rid of Iwelumo which was typical of JM's reign . How can you someone who just turns up on the odd occasion ? We need full commitment from all staff ! I suspect some of the other people who are in the dugout will be moved over the next few weeks , we have far too many hangers on !
