Everyone see the result of the night in the FA Cup? Boston 3-4 Chorley. Chorley came back from behind three times to take it to extra time. Ex-Blue Matty Hughes sent off in extra time for Chorley before they stole a winner with ten men.
The link with us is Dave Riche. Riche was with us the last time we won an FA Cup game on that glorious run to a second round replay with Barnsley. He went to Fylde and guess what? - they got through to the early rounds and were featured on Match of the Day away to Plymouth. Now he rolls up at Chorley and they get to the first round for the first time in 27 years.
We need to get Riche (and his... ahem... Chest-er supporting missus) back for this time next year and we're sorted.

I didn't like him. Reason being that I felt he offered nothing. But he kept himself to himself and you hardly saw him in the press as much as Maguire. I know we need a mouthpiece etc & we are in a critical phase currently, but I'm getting a little pissed off with it all. This is a fan owned club, why haven't we got a supporter on the board willing to talk to the press rather than hide and leave Maguire (who's picking up a wage - time will tell whether he's earning it) to spout off? We just seem to be passing the buck far too easily. Maybe the board feel that because he is getting paid, he should face the media, I don't know, but I'd love to see an interview with someone, and the sentiments would be coming straight from the heart, someone who genuinely loves the club. I'm not saying I dislike Maguire, I'm sure he's doing ok with bringing income in, but I'd rather just have someone on the board to come forward.

In the past we had people that were very visible, and that were clearly there. The current crop have for some time been far too invisible, far too faceless. Yes, I know that there are issues with abuse that can arise on sites like this. Yes, I know that people can do an excellent job without jumping up and down saying look at me. But the board do risk undermining the fan-owned ethos by not being to the front and showing that they are in charge and that they are accountable. We need far more easily identifiable board members who are in charge of key areas and communicating what they are doing. I can't get to the CFU meetings, but equally it would not be hard for a regular monthly email update with a short update from each board member in charge of an area in the club to say what is happening, and yet I get nothing between one AGM and the next. I've said before that the board has always seemed far too heavy with people with a business background. We need those obviously, but running a business is only a part of a cooperative club model, so we also need people who are experienced in community organising and communicating that can boost the mutual ownership model at the club - people from trade union backgrounds, tenant groups, community and youth groups etc. People that will proudly wave the flag for Supporters Direct and fight loudly for our club to be a beacon for a different type of football experience - and yet where are these people currently?

How many board members can you name off the top of your head? Says it all about their visibility and connectedness to the fans. It's been the same for the past 4 years. Let's get them talking to the fans and reporting back on the difference they've made within their roles. It would then stop people questioning.
