I've thought this player wasn't good enough in the games I've seen him play. Plenty of swagger, but pass completion awful. I thought he was man of the match last night as his passing was almost perfect. He needs to learn how to shoot and not clear the terrace roof, but certainly massively improved.

Good to see you're coming round!
Our problem is that without him we have no creativity at all. All the pressure is on Lucas to create something. Usually without much movement in front of him. It's tough for a young player to do that well.
A few other players run around a lot, but they just shift sideways most of the time. Lucas takes responsibility. Yeah, he loses it at times, but he doesn't ever hide. I think he'd do really well in a good team.

He played much better in the two previous than last night, wasn't b any means bad last night though. He's improving with game time, only downside to him is when you don't get him on the ball, he doesn't do much work off it. We need a fully fit Turnbull and a 'back to normal' James in the centre so we can let Dawson have more of a free role and spray passes about.

He had a better game last night but still gives the ball away too often for me & I don't understand why he's rated just for completing a few passes. Surely that's the bare minimum you'd expect from a player in his position? I don't remember him playing anyone in once last night, just repeatedly either launching it out the ground or playing short, simple passes.
I do understand that he offers something different but he's a luxury we can ill afford at the moment IMO.

Dawson will give the ball away on occasions but you can see the rest of the lads trust him to take the ball off them and do something with it. He's the only one with that bit of class. His shooting is hit and miss, but at least he's getting into those sort of positions in the first place. He will only improve with time, and without him I think we'd be badly lacking that creativity in the middle of the park.

I thought he had a quiet game last night apart from his effort against the post.
He is a player with vision, needs to work on his discipline to do simple things like short passes at the right time.
Finally we have a player who can deliver a good set piece, the years we have had shite corners from the likes of Rooney.
He plonked that ball right on Astles head at Eastleigh.
I think we need to be more patient with players who have great potential who are not the finished article, and I believe Dawson is one of them.

Dawson was quality last night I thought. Once you accept he's going to have a couple of dodgy passes a game, you start to appreciate his quality when striking the ball. His set piece delivery has been superb recently.
Brought a friend along last night who thought he was the best footballer on the pitch by a distance.

i didn’t rate him at first, but he’s winning me over. Needs to reign in the Hollywood passes and shots and with some decent coaching he could go far.
Don’t forget it’s his first season at this level and it took Heneghan and Hughes a while to establish themselves.

With respect Jack, I don't know what game your friend was watching. Pearson was far and away the best player on the pitch, regardless of the goal. He schooled our strikers and is the best centre half we will face this season. I think Dawson was alright, I've warned to him ALOT since he's been central, but last night he wasn't the best on the field mate.

When I say footballer, I mean somebody with real ability when it comes to striking a football, seeing a pass, keeping composure etc.
I agree that Pearson was the most effective player on the pitch last night, but I think Dawson's technical ability is superb.

Fair play Jack, I did misread that, apologies. Would probably agree he was the best technically on the night.

I watched the game on BT sport which gave me a different view when compared to watching live.
I thought Dawson had an excellent game and the TV helped to see his influence. He is not a tackler and doesn't possess to much pace, but his distribution was excellent. Turnbull on the other hand broke up Wrexhams play effectively. Very different midfield players but both had good games in my opinion. James was less effective, but was playing out of position.
Dawson is getting better with each game as his fitness, competitiveness and awareness is improving.
Of the other players Who have received plaudits elsewhere I was disappointed with Archer, he seemed to lack energy and was slower that I would have hoped. Hannah was better at collecting the ball, but both he and Akintunde had to come deep at times. Akintunde, Astles, Halls and Rowe-Turner all were effective when watching on TV, even though the conceded goal was disappointing.
I felt Lynch looked hesitant and lacked focus, too many basic errors.
Gough was involved well, and on a few occasions could have been more aggressive in taking on his man in the wing-back position. Had he done this he could have had a real significant impact. Maybe his fitness levels will improve and if so he could become a very good signing.
I was not down after the match because of the performance. The result was very disappointing and the referring very poor when judged by telly with the replays. Two very definite penalties, though had Wedgebury been sent off that would have been harsh in my opinion. Buts Archers yellow card was rediculous. In comparison.
But definitely Dawson is improving and with Astles slowly becoming our most influential player.
