As a fan of 28 years it is fair to say that following Chester has never been easy, and the good times have been significantly outweighed by the bad. So - handling this season shouldn’t be a problem on paper based on the plethora of terrible seasons in the past (92/93, 94/95, 99/00, 01/02, 07/08, 08/09, to name but a few).
I am, however, really struggling this time round and I can’t quite put my finger on precisely what it is. It could possibly be the fact that this calendar year has been one of the worst I can remember (including the summer break, cup games etc, we have won six times on a Saturday this year - that means we haven’t won a game on 39 occasions). Maybe it is also the fact that we have ‘played the card’ of introducing a new manager who is steadily having an impact, but arguably not quickly enough. Perhaps it is the awful feeling that I genuinely cannot see where the next set of points are going to come from.
I will always love the club and will always make every effort to go to games. I am however really losing faith this season.
Comments and advice warmly received.

I totally understand your comments and where you are coming from, this seasons been a disaster so far, although I do feel better with Bignot in charge, he's a good honest manager that clearly cares about helping us improve. But more importantly, we could quite easily not have a club to support. Some see Conference North as a disaster, personally I try to appreciate having Chester FC to watch. Obviously like all of us id be gutted if we dropped, but I'm keeping the faith that we have time to turn it around.

On the other hand, I look at the next set of fixtures and think that there is nothing to fear. In fact, this league has no outstanding team. It only needs a small improvement to pick up points quickly. We are at least making chances now. If they start to go in more regularly.....?

Bignot may be the answer, he's clearly an improvement on JM but has he enough time. Games are running out and it's a big mountain we have to climb. I think to dismiss the competition as "no outstanding team" might be risky. We need to start amassing some points NOW.

I think what I've found difficult over the last 10-11 months is that I've struggled to feel any anger or injustice. I hated the likes of Vaughan, Smith, Gutterman etc and felt they and their selfish, ulterior motives were to blame for our struggles. There's always been some kind of effigy figure at the club in the past. Now, I think think everyone has good intentions but it isn't quite working. I don't agree with everything the board does but I don't feel resentment towards anyone, including McCarthy.

Is it Chester or football in general though. Must admit my desire to watch football is seriously waining.

For me its one word- Confidence
This team has shown me under MB over the last few weeks there is the makings of a mid table side there and I still stand by that.
We will always get defensive errors at this level, that is a given.
The problem we have is we are coming up against teams who capitalize on our errors, Wrexham 1 attempt on target 1 goal.
They for all their plaudits defensively this season still allowed us 3 good chances, we didn't take any.
We desperately need to score first in a game,If I am correct we have only scored first twice this season, we drew one and won the other.
The late goals we concede too is another problem, its like we need a trigger (maybe a substitution) with about 5 mins to go, to give us a break in play, gives the skipper that little bit of time to get the players mind focused as if its the first kick off again.

Akintunde first minute, you are right cheers for that and as you say if anything it strengthens my point even more.

I agree with the late goals issue. Do we not have a similar issue in the opening two or three minutes also?
