... has joined Neil Aspin's coaching staff at Port Vale as "fitness coach". They're having a laugh aren't they?! We are still the least fit team in the National League thanks to him - and that's with commencing pre-season a week earlier than everyone else!
Oh well, he's put to bed those critics who claimed he would never get another job at this level (or above).

Hopefully the fact that he's now earning may reduce any ongoing payments from the club.
Let's hope so. We should be receiving compensation from him.
Is it worth us all putting a couple of quid on him to be next Leyton Orient manager? If he shortens in the betting they may give him an interview.

Would imagine his past links with Neil Aspin and John Rudge from when McCarthy played for Vale have gone some way towards him getting that job.

Should really have gone in April, poor recruitment twice his undoing, although most of us seemed to think he did ok with a lot of this Summers signings. Lacked that certain streak that most successful managers seem to have. Turned out not to be managerial material, but probably in the right set up a decent coach. Wish him all the best at Vale where his arrival has been warmly welcomed by the fans.

Just read the Chronicle article. Seemed ok till I read he will assist the manager in a scouting role. What a laugh. Doesn’t have a clue about scouting, so perhaps it is a misprint that should have said he has also joined the brownies. Let’s hope he can convince Port Vale his recruitment for us was really good though, and we can offload most of his crap to them, and give Marcus some relief.

What he's entitled to from the contract we gave him would surely not be dependent on any future employment from a different club? Just a shame they didn't come in for him a couple of months ago, and maybe we could have come to some sort of agreement.

Amazing to think he's going to be in charge of fitness.
I watched a video of him being interviewed on twitter today, and whilst I wish him luck, it sent a shiver down my spine just hearing that voice again.

Talking of toys - anyone else enjoying watching Glen Tampon's plaything Billericay Town losing in the FA Cup to Leatherhead? Brilliant stuff.

National League manager two months ago, now 'fitness coach' at Port Vale. That's quite a come down and demonstrates about the level he should have been working at all along. Port Vale will be in for training two weeks early next season. Worked for us this year......

Whilst I’m still very annoyed at mess JM has left us thanks to the board allowing him to get us in a mess. It doesn’t stop me from wishing Jon all the best at Port Vale. He may even help us out in the future with loans etc. All the best Jon

He's just all talk, he delivered nothing here once Sharpes left and got away with it for far too long. I don't blame him though, if we were too stupid to see the blindingly obvious then we've only ourselves to blame.

Employing McCarthy as fitness coach is akin to Peter Kay being head of Weight Watchers.

Really couldn't give a toss what he's up to now. He properly left us with a crap squad.
