I nearly cried when I saw that last 6 wicket capitulation. Only 3 players got scores .... not good enough.
They need to have a 9.00pm curfew.

Ashes gone ..... I think that was worse than even the most negative of us thought. Australian cricket was reported to be in crisis, but there's only one team in crisis. Cook has scored less runs that Australian quickie Cummings. It's no wonder they're beat before they start when you've got that Farbrace fella saying we're not good enough. We are what we are. They don't need sledging when there own assistant manager is writing them off. I said 5-0 after the first Test was half way through. The Australians have done the job they set out to do with a month to spare, so they won't be as ruthless, but they'll still blow away the worst ever England team to leave these shores. I would expect some resignations from the hierarchy, but not holding my breath.

Awful, England Cricket need a revolutionary approach the way cycling targeted every marginal gain, just without the harassment. We also need to encourage fast bowling in youngsters. Currently this is discouraged and coached out of them in favour of seam bowling. Fine for home matches, but ineffective in Australia on flat pitches in dry atmosphere.

Got to agree this is by far the worst performance I have seen by an England team in Australia, but hey Hannibal dont think that the Aussies wont be as ruthless they will be going for the jugular big style and will revel in a 5-0 whitewash. We really need to be blooding some of our youngsters over the next 18 months to be anywhere near competitive for the next Ashes series. This has been coming though and blame for me lies with Sky. In 2006 when cricket free to view, we had team that was a match for anyone, because youngsters could aspire to be next Freddie, KP without paying silly subscriptions. Now far less accessible so a generation has been lost. Thanks a bunch Murdoch.

Just seen part of a Joe Root interview. He doesn't seem to admit that England were outplayed and outclassed. That's almost more disgraceful that the team's performance. Almost.

Looked like the weather was going to spoil our parade for a while there but thankfully it didn't, how does a team bounce back from being 4/365 in the first innings and still lose by an innings! Pretty confident in the whitewash, not much fight shown in the English team bar a couple. Surely this will be the end of Cook?

But there's just a chance he'll now perform now that it doesn't matter.

I think the whole England Cricket Board need to resign including Andrew Strauss. They're just not addressing the basic flaws in the whole English set-up from top to bottom.

For me our test cricket team has steadily declined over the past few years since the explosion of the one day and T20 game. Our batsmen seem to want to score runs at 4, 5, 6 an over, which is great if the bowling is complete fodder, but this isn't. Love him or loathe him, but Boycott is right when he says keeping your wicket is more vital than scoring runs at test level. We almost look to try and score from every ball, its entertaining but ultimately it wont win you test matches.

I don't go along with this Cook love-in. I agree it was a great innings, but it's come 3 Tests too late.

I don't go along with this Cook love-in. I agree it was a great innings, but it's come 3 Tests too late. Can’t really take anything away from the quality of the innings but it makes it all the more frustrating that he couldn’t show that grit in the previous tests, when we really needed it.

James Anderson says the Ashes tour wasn't a disaster. Only the rain in the 4th Test prevented yet another 5-0. I can kind of see his point in that it was expected that we wouldn't do well. I think the fact that we could only sporadically compete with Cricket Australia was due to our lack of genuine pace and a wicket-taking spinner, but they were described as being in crisis before the tour began. I also think the job is too much for young Root, who neglected his own well-being to the point that he became ill.
