the whole situation with compensation for JA is getting crazy to the point of farcial next week is december and still no news on a settlement or tribunal date what is our CEO doing about it ? how many calls has he made to the authorities chasing up the whole issue? or is it a case something is happening but once again the fans have not been told ? WHENEVER the tribunal decision is made im sure tranmere will have another period of time to pay the money so with christmas coming and a date not even set yet could be march before we get the money(which we need now to strengthen the team before its too late in the season)
crazy situation most other matters dealt with by the FA(suspensions appeals etc) happen in a short space of time not virtually the whole season !!!

Can we just have him back!! Through all his faults, he was probably one of our best players last year and would be better than anything we currently have. Major loss and I suspect now we will probably only get something derisory in form of compensation.

The FA are not arsed about lower league this could drag on for a long time yet our Club and the League have their hands tied it's a matter of the FA sorting a date out then going from there

I don’t get this tribunal nonsense. Surely if a fee is due, it should be done at the time otherwise no deal and the player can’t play. It’s all kind of fish fingers the current system or lack of it.

MM said on Thursday that there had been considerable contact with Tranmere, and they still weren't offering anything near our valuation. He said it would likely go to tribunal.
Lawrence Kirby said last month that we had put a cautious valuation into our budget at the start of the season. Apparently there is a formula that is used to establish a valuation, and the FA officials can advise on that. If so, why can't they sort this at the time?
Agree the whole situation is a farce. It's yet another example of the FA letting down smaller clubs.

It's been over half a year since Alabi signed for Tranmere. Ridiculous doesn't cover it.

The length of time it takes for the FA to resolve matters is a problem, the actual principles and procedures involved in the system aren't though, and I really think you have misunderstood the situation. Alabi was out of contract and a free agent, only because of his age and the fact that we offered him a new contract are we due some compensation under the rules. But who should decide that level of compensation? The outgoing club? Fine, we'll value him at half a million shall we, all sorted. Or perhaps the club he signs for? Well in that case we might get a quid. You see the problem here? And that is why when clubs cannot mutually agree a value it will go to a tribunal and that is the only sensible why to decide it by a neutral third party. There is no incentive for Tranmere to pay up now, and while the FA are not particularly concerned with the lower leagues we are where we are, so just be patient as we can do nothing at all about it.

He also seems to be a very nice pleasant young man. Would we be in the bottom four with him in the side? He arguably kept us up last season? I personally would drive from Dover to our training ground.

Surely there is a timeframe for the FA dealing with such issues... Anyone know what it might be?

The time frame is simple if its to do with the premiershit the FA will deal with it in a week if its Non League they will take as long as they want cos its not important enough for them to get off their big fat rich arses

i think we all know the rules captain duff its been stated enough on here its the lack of action by the FA that my original thread was about but to say its just a case of waiting how long does this has to be ? we all know the FA have no interest in the smaller clubs(they make them no money) if JA had started the season on fire at tranmere scoring loads of goals they would settled long before now otherwise going to a tribunal would have cost them even more maybe the fact that he has flopped you suspect they almost feel "cheated" and are trying to get him on the cheap

I suspect the time taken to sort this, plus the derisory amount we're likely to get, are part of the FA's attempts to encourage clubs to sort the deal out themselves.
We'd probably be better just taking Tranmere's best offer. I seem to remember when we took Kingsley James's transfer to a tribunal, we ended up getting less than Halifax offered.

He's not going too well at Dover either, being subbed at half time yesterday although he was apparently playing on the wing.

I don't think it is a matter of just 'taking it to a tribunal'. As with most tribunal cases, both parties have to be seen to have exhausted all possibilities of reaching an agreement themselves. The problem is that with a lackadaisical and uncaring body such as the FA in charge, there is no incentive for a club in Tranmere's position to do anything but drag their feet. As things stand at present the selling club are in the situation of not having the benefit of the player nor the compensation for loss of his services. Perhaps there could be a provision for the players registration to be suspended after a certain period of time without agreement in order to put some pressure on the 'buying' club to engage in serious negotiations.
And it shouldn't reduce any valuation that Alabi has performed badly since his move. When he first came to Chester he was very raw and not particularly effective. It took a lot of patience and a good deal of coaching to build him up to the standard which attracted transfer interest. The increase in his confidence was an important part of this. It appears that the situation he has encountered at Tranmere has returned him to ground zero and Chester should not have to bear the financial penalty for this.

Tbf, Liverpool haven't paid / come to an agreement with Chelsea for Solanke yet.
If that hasn't been sorted out, there's no chance the case of Alabi is going to be fast-forwarded is it.

Bit of a difference between millions for clubs with billionaire owners and a little non league club living hand to mouth - it's needs fast tracking it's only brass buttons but our jacket needs sewing and fast

Not sure how the above would work bearing in mind we are not a "selling" club in this instance and Alabi was a free agent.

Irony is that if he'd had a two year deal we'd have got a decent price for him in the summer.
You can see why the club / manager would want some players on deals that didn't all run out at the end of the season each year. Allows you to build a team, not a total rebuild each year.
On the other hand if you put the wrong players on two year deals, it's real issue. You don't easily get the chance to rebuild, when you'd want to.
Alabi and Archer would have been an interesting partnership, wouldn't they?

The tribunal will look at the facts at the time of the move, considering he was our top scorer last season and had offers from league clubs, his age and the development we have put into him will all have a bearing on the figure. Adding all that together gives us our valuation of the player, As mentioned Tranmere will have a different view, certainly more so now, but Tranmeres valuation wont mean a jot.
As also mentioned beforehand, the FA may not even have seen this yet, it may all still be in the hands of legal people from both sides getting their acts together, if you have ever worked in civil cases, the courts will give you a date within a couple of months if you go to trial, its the legal people getting there that can take years, I feel this will be something similar.(the process not the timescale)

I would certainly hope that's the case. As I've said before, his record for us last season shows he's worth money and it's not our fault if Tranmere can't get the best out of him. You can't buy a car, crash it and then claim you shouldn't have to pay as much for it because it doesn't work as well. I see it as similar to when we signed Paul Taylor from Vauxhall and he failed a drugs test. Vaughan tried to put up some sort of "damaged goods" argument for not paying Vauxhall, and it was bollocks basically. You sign a player based on his record, pay what he's worth and then it's your job to get them to apply themselves and perform. If it doesn't work out, it's at best bad luck, at worst down to how you've managed the player.
