Will see him in a few weeks then... shame he wasn’t in the dugout Saturday!

Exactly the role I wanted him in for Chester, supporting a younger man for the longer term. Hopefully that younger man would have had a good working knowledge of local players i.e. from the north west and north wales. Maguire wanted Bignot, so let’s just wait and see. So did 32% of those who voted, probably including a large share of Maguire lovers. Well done Fylde, you have a longer term plan!

I heard last week from a reliable source that the Board had “made their mind up” before the interviews. Huge mistake missing out on GB. Bignot has not impressed at all, more comings and goings than Crewe Railway Station and, unlike others, I’ve not been impressed with performances - defending deep, no pattern going forward and some highly suspect selections and use of substitutions. I hope and pray we stay up, but I doubt it unfortunately. Hope I’m wrong, really do.

Barrow is a few years at best off retirement and in what world would we have the finances to appoint two people in management positions? Easy for Fylde to do with their millions, not for us. Bignot is just about the most long-term, progressive appointment we could have made and I think, given what he was left with, you'd be hard pushed to claim he's not showing promise.

In regard to financing this, I’m sure we could have got GB in such a role for less than the salary Maguire is on. I know where I would prefer my money to go.

As regards thinking anyone would be hard pushed to claim Bignot is not showing promise, McCarthy left Chester in 21st. position. Guess what? Chester are in 21st position now! His player signings resemble that of Burr, with several taking a wage as they pass through without ever playing.

I think we have to take into account of the size of the injury list the Bignot had to contend with , he had to get bodies in in order to cover all positions. This was done by bringing in players on short term contracts at little cost to us, I remember the one game where all 5 subs had zero games for the first team.this is not an ideal way to fill the shortfall but we have very little money to sign permanent replacements as most of the teams in this league would have done

I was referring to those clamouring, and still doing so, for Barrows return. We appointed the right man in Bignot, I've a feeling there a quite a few still refusing to back him just because they didn't get their choice.

If you ask Chesterfield fans what they think of Barrow it would be very different to us, and a lot more recently! Great respect for GB, but it's time to move on now!

Absolutely Sqzl couldn’t agree more and I made a similar point at the time of the appointment. We have a little momentum from the back to back wins going into the Halifax game. A win there would be massive going into the xmas period. Let’s get behind the boys at the shay.

It's quite right that we idolise Barrow, but I do think some of our fans need to let it go. It reminds me a bit of hysterical Newcastle fans at times who go on about Kevin Keegan and have never quite accepted that they're no longer 13 points clear at the top of the league with Les Ferdinand up front.

We are not in the EVO-Stick anymore where our budget was far outweighing most of the other clubs. Neil Young was given every chance by the then board to take us through the divisions by signing just about whoever he wanted.
Those days are well and truly gone, we now have to be competitive on the pitch with whoever we can get, not whoever we want.
I am not the worlds biggest MM fan, but its a role we do desperately need to bring in finances from outside investors.
Not saying he's perfect, but he has brought in a lot of sponsorship, without that role we would never have got.
We could rely on volunteers to do that role, but look at the mess we are in with the current board, not saying its all their fault as some of these positions we really need to be paying a salary for people to do, not rely on volunteers who give up their time and may not quite have the business acumen required.
Its a vicious circle really, Do we pay a CEO to bring in money to try and buy players nobody is scouting? Or do we pay a scout to find players we then cant afford to sign?
I would much prefer the former, as if it was the latters case, the scout wouldn't be here very long.
I think if you gave GB the choice of us or Fylde, he would have taken us every time, but given the choice between salaries we can offer, its a no brainer Fylde are in a much better position than us, given their main income is from David Haythornthwaite (for the time being, until Blackpool come up for sale)

rcb face it Barrow is not our manager and never will be again, rightly so... Please read my comments again, where you will see I supported his new role at Fylde, which is NOT as manager. I would also refer you to my comments posted on 17th. September, “Get Barrow and Holden in as a dynamic duo for the short term and the future, ...” As you can see, I do agree that he is not a manager for the future, but his wealth of experience is very valuable and unfortunately Fylde will benefit from Chester’s lost opportunity.

Aren't Blackpool up for sale? The Oystons have been told to pay this Russian Guy (Beloton?) £31m that they embezzled out of him. If they don't and I doubt they will they will have to forfeit the ownership of the club. Whether Beloton will want to stay there is another thing. Not sure that Heythornwaite would want to get involved with such a mess. Just spotted the post above.

Similar situation to us really when SV told us we could have the club for a pound, just pay off the debts, simple, really!, not really!.
Don't wish the thread to go off topic, but then you didn't reply to any of the other points I made.

Some people just prefer to be negative about managers and players because if they do turn out to be shit, they're proven right. If they turn out to be good, they get to enjoy being proven wrong. It's a win/win. The same people who are criticising Bignot would have probably been criticising Barrow if he had been appointed and we were still in the relegation zone, saying we should have gone for a longer term appointment.

rcb face it Barrow is not our manager and never will be again, rightly so... Appreciate your loyalty to Marcus but a bit of respect for the Graham the Great wouldn't go amiss. If it hadn't been for the Great Man turning a bunch of free transfers into an absolute force then a lot of lads in their early and mid 30's would have probably not bothered following Chester and gone and watched Premiership clubs. What he did with a budget consisting of a bag of broken biscuits and a £10.00 voucher for Owen Owens was remarkable and deserves massive respect. It was a pleasure going to the Deva and I used to count the days down until I got to see Pugh, Thompson, Rimmer and Lancashire rip teams apart. Yes, Barrow wont probably manage Chester again but his spelld in charge of Chester will live forever in a lot of Chester fan's memories. The King is Dead, long live the King!

I’m sorry Mr McNally, I’ve read many of your posts with interest but the rubbish you spout in posts such as this proves to me, a supporter of 52 years that you don’t engage your brain before you post. How can you make a statement as ridiculous as the one above when Big Graham has just been appointed Director of Football at a club higher than ours. You really need to start providing evidence for your nonsense or it will remain just that nonsense. Just compare what Bignot has achieved compared to Barrow. Quite simply he’s not fit to lace his boots. Bignot is our manager and I will forever support Chester whoever manages them it’s a life choice, but you will never prove me wrong when I say that Barrow would have been a much better choice providing exactly what you say he can’t; stability supported by a colossal knowledge about the game. Can i leave you with one last thought. If you needed repairs on your house (or your parents)would you employ someone who’d brief experience with one successful project or a builder with a wealth of experience, a huge portfolio and massively respected within the profession? Especiall6 when they both cost the same.........no brainer

Love the man like he was a family member. Very underrated player and a superb manager. Should build a statue of him outside the ground. Should add though, other than his shit substitutions I have no problem with Bignot what so ever and think he's the right man to take the club forward. Also, don't get the MM hating. It's as if some people need a hate figure in their life to make them happy. Bizarre.
