Going by the volume and intensity of posts on here in the last few days, it's blindingly obvious that there's a large and growing demand for major changes as to how the club progresses.
I agree with some on here that we're not a million miles away from matchday protests such is the strength of feeling.
How we solve our problems is still open to debate as shown on DC but I've got an awful feeling that, because there's such a wide range of views, it may well peter out over time as inertia takes over and/or it deteriorates into infighting.
However, in the near-frenzy to try and get to the root of our predicament, I think we may well be overlooking a significant group of fans, who I will call the "Quiet People"
These people:-
Are probably not members of CFU
Are probably not registered on DC
Do not post moans, groans and abuse on Twitbook or DC
Do not hurl vitriol and abuse at officials or players
Are not THAT bothered with the politics and machinations within the club because they expect and (perhaps naively) trust those appointed to run the club to do so properly and professionally.
In short, the "Quiet People" like a relatively straightforward life watching Chester FC
They roll up on a Saturday, cough up £18 or £15, buy a 50/50 ticket, cheer and applaud (rarely) or mutter and grumble (more frequently), tend to leave quickly at the end, drive home and do it all again a fortnight later.
By the way, this is certainly not intended to be condescending or patronising to the "Quiet People" - after all, many aspects apply to me personally.
But, they are still loyal to the club; it's just that they'll rarely make their views public.
The best you'll possibly get from those I know is "there's something not right here" or "I can't put my finger on it but......"
In other words, they are still attending but I sense that they feel that they are gradually no longer feeling part of the community club we were.
Their loyalty is being stretched to the limit; it's not going to take much more for some of the "Quiet People" to say "You know what? I really can't be bothered any more" or "I'll give it a miss this week".
If these people call it a day, we'll be left with the hardcore support and all that entails in the future.
So, in essence, what I'm saying is that getting back our sense of community and togetherness is absolutely fundamental.
It's not just for the vocal ones
It's for the "Quiet People" as well!
