Just read that Chester fan Jonathon Legard had to be driven back from the French Alps in an ambulance after falling ill with pleurisy and pneumonia whilst on holiday with his family. He's recovering according to a pal of mine who went to school with him. Speedy recovery Jon.

I was speaking to him a few weeks ago and it was clear how passionate he is about our club. I wish him a speedy recovery too.

I’ve always admired him for the terrific work which he has done for the BBC over the years. Best wishes Jonathon and I hope that you recover quickly. A proper Chester fan!

I was sat with Jon at Aldershot about 4 years ago. Matty Taylor had unexpectedly been recalled to FGR. Jon told me that Boothroyd (FGR manger) and Scott (Aldershot manager) were pals and Scott had asked Ady to recall Taylor. He hardly played for FGR again. Matty was on fire for us and had scored 6 goals in 7 games for us including a hat-trick at Tamworth. We were useless that night and lost 2-0 to a poor Aldershot team. Craig Mahon seemed our only decent player that night. Taylor was arguably the best player we've had since being in National League.

He's at home in London recuperating and is hoping to make the Maidenhead game.
