Saw every minute of every game in that League Cup run. The belief amongst the players was inspirational. Ken Roberts is a Legend.

Days never to be repeated unfortunately. One of tthe few advantages of being old is that we have memories of the past glories of the seventies. Still wish I was 30 years yoinger though.

The present shower would not be fit to lace Derek Drapers boots. Lol

What a time to be a Chester fan. Loved every minute and never to be repeated.
As mentioned, Ken Roberts is indeed a legend, but don't let's forget the part Brian Green played as his number two - genius who went on to manage the Australian national team.
As well as watching every game up to the semi-final I also went to the final where Villa (should have been Chester) beat Norwich.
Happy, wonderful and memorable days.

Memories still brings a great feeling of pride and a tear to my eye, wonderful stuff. Me too. Loved that game. Loved that team. The 64/5 and 74/5 teams provided great entertainment but the best ever team was the 77/78 side. The quality of that side will never be seen again. I remember it clearly Lloyd N Edwards. Walker Storton. Delgado. Oakes Crossley. Livermore. I Edwards. Mellor. Phillips with Derek Jeffries, Henderson and Raynor also in contention, WHAT A TEAM !

I wouldnt disagree. That team wasnt far off, present day Champuonship standard. Ian Edwards, Mellor and Crossley. Some forward line that.

Surely Paul Richardson must slot into that line up somewhere , probably our most gifted footbalker of that generation

I jumped up and came down on my ankle: agony and ecstasy simultaneously. Edit: sorry I think that was Nick Richardson, another class act.

He was with us the previous season.

But the joy at the final whistle was amazing.

Memories still brings a great feeling of pride and a tear to my eye, wonderful stuff. I worked on your turnstiles that night and took over £3000 cash and no one could get to my turnstile to read the meter so i fought my way through the crowd at half time with the cash stuffed in my pockets !! Wouldnt do that now .
