The truly frustrating thing about this group is that they can actually compete. For 40 minutes of the first and 25 minutes of the second, we were totally in the game. Not playing particularly well, but in the game. But we let in a ridiculous goal and you just knew this group were going to crumble. They are as soft a group of players as we'll ever see, no resilience or steel whatsoever. Bignot can go on about the environment, but the supporters were well behind the team up until 2-0. His tactics today were identical to McCarthy's at the start of the season. No movement and no width whatsoever. If Gough or Halls had the ball, they didn't have a single option in front of them. Strikers weren't running the channels, 'wingers' were in the centre circle. That's all well and good away from home, but we need so much more at the Deva. I know we're limited, but put LRT on the left wing and Mahon on the right and tell them to keep the width. Then, at the very least, we're a threat to the opposition. We didn't lay a glove on Gateshead today who were a really average side. Crawford was the only plus today. He looked neat and tidy, he'd be starting on Tuesday for me. Halls was much improved from his previous outings at right back too. We need a change of intent on Tuesday or else there's no point in turning up. It’s exactly as I feared it would be today. We can scrap out results away from home by sitting back and getting in shape, but we have no idea how to take games to teams at home. We are going down.

This is very worrying if genuine, which it probably is. So what exactly is going on behind the scenes? Do we not have a right to know? If we are in dire financial straits we should be made aware so we can do something about it. If its a question of personnel and issues between players/management/board we also need to know. Its frustrating as fans being given snippets of bad news...we are left helpless to act.

Felt a bit sorry today for Kingsley, should have been moved to the centre second half but for all that I personally thought he was one of very few who actually showed effort and commitment to the end, even played out of position. Would have been my mom.

Seriously it's that bad we are heading down the road to administration if things don't change. We've overspent massively on the budget, increased it for Mccarthy but board just sat back and let the control freak Maguire do all their work. Maguire has done anything and everything bar the work he should have been doing in bringing the commercial revenue in and growing our off field income. As a result we're in a vicious circle of a slide. Wrong manager appointed and given ridiculous extension, then given all the Sam Hughes money to blow and spent it on a bunch of shit. Boards collectively signed off these deals so are also culpable in all this. We're fucked

Ok even if we beat crisis club hartlepool and best Maidenhead then today will pass over. We ought to beat any side whose present concern isn’t on football. That said I wouldn’t be surprised to see us roll over and loose the game. Despite the constraints Bignot is becoming a adisappointment sadly. I have made suggestions before about the awful internal goings on at our club. Frankly shot down in some quarters. It wasn’t rocket science anyway but for JL to suggest all is not correct this is likely to be a reasonable call. On that assumption all that has gone on since April if not before has sent us on a downward spiral. If we can’t show effort on the park no matter how limited we are. We can’t got any communication from The club which is in my view particular offensive to our supporters. How do they expect people to continue to support us hence 700 gone. I shall be expressing my concerns to MM

I'm a football fan, some people just come on here and just moan. I know we have people on RedPassion who moan and we are near the top, but we get behind our team. So come on get behind yours. I started watching Chester when we were fighting relegation many years back in late 60's-season 67/68. I can still recall losing at home to Bradford City, 2-3. The atmosphere and the support though was electric and it was hooked me in to support the club through thick and thin. There wasn't social media to express doubts and as a young kid it didn't enter my mind to be negative and I just looked forward to the next game. It seems though that conditions have changed in terms especially of atmosphere and excitement. My memory was that we were always close to getting a result and made chances. We also had a goalscorer, Eddie Loydon who gave us hope. We were in Division 4 then and there was no relegation.

Tactically the first half was a complete cock up. Gateshead have two pacy wingers. Our full backs aren't quick. Gough, in particular, really struggled. Just as he did at Halifax against a similar player.
The midfield has looked shocking all season really. What they don't have is pace. They are all central midfield, and don't want to be pulled out wide. So, what do we do? We play them in a three, leaving them outnumbered and with 70 yards to cover. It's not surprising they struggled badly.
We sign a new pacy winger (supposedly). He stood in a position behind the two strikers. He looked absolutely useless. The formation was obviously wrong. It was apparent after ten minutes. MB did nothing to sort it. It looked like James and Dawson were trying to explain the problem to MB in a break in play. Nothing changed.
In the Fylde and Guiseley away games we had a solid 442 formation. It wasn't pretty, but it made us look organised. I was warming to MB after those.
Today we were set up wrong. It was as bad for 30 minutes as Dagenham, Halifax etc. That's too often for a team at this level. That's the manager to blame, for me.
What we should do immediately is stop MB signing anyone that will cost us money. No contracts that go past end of April. We've enough players with contracts for next season that we don't want already.
Worryingly, there are rumours about MB being a bully, that seem to be going round. Not for the first time. If that is true, it should not be tolerated. That, for me, would be grounds for dismissal. Question is, does our Board have the will and the balls to deal with this? Is this part of the "problems behind the scenes" that are circling?
Edit - is this what Jonathan Legard is referring to??

It will need EVERYONE to rally behind it, otherwise we won't last 12 months IMO

He is a respected journalist and I'd usually have him down for far too much integrity to be dropping bombs on Twitter and letting everyone jump to conclusions. If he is brave enough to post that then he should be brave enough to fill us in on what he means. The last thing this club needs is people frantically speculating on rumour, we need the facts. So far it's led to people suggesting they aren't getting paid and bullying....its not helpful.

The problem is the fans. Fans own the club, if there is no care over what they own, well... their own fault.

I’d like to think that this is a fake account and there is nothing to it at all. That said when you think of the silence we’ve been treated to for some time by the board which under our ownership ethos should never occur. I know it’s not helpful but I fear the worst. As I recall JL just sowed the seed in the past as well and then eventually it came out in the wash. Be an interesting night on Thursday if it gets that far. BTW I personally want nothing more than to hear we are looking at a conference north budget and plans are in place Re this. Why this ongoing silence worrying isn’t it

Paying off 2 previous manager's wont allow for us to sack another. It's tough shat i'm afraid but that's our financial posistion. Jon McCarthy was paid off at the time he left the club. It would just be Bignot to pay off now. If that's the case, I would say it's all the more reason to give Bignot the benefit of the doubt. The money he should be able to use to get us out of this mess has gone to the berk who got us into it in the first place. Whether managers are paid off in bulk or in installment, sacking them depletes our resources. McCarthy's sacking has depleted what Bignot has to work with, so sacking Bignot would further deplete what the next manager had to work with. In my opinion, any board that finds itself sacking two managers within a season has lost control of the situation.

If true then the current board and Mark Maguire have a hell of a lot of explaining to do. I'm not into journalists touching upon things though, if that's what he was implying then he should have just said it outright. Some things just don't stack up for me. It's well known that McCarthy front loaded the budget and consequently pissed all the money up the wall straight away. Within that spending was the minimum of what we expect to get for Alabi. So we then had to use money for paying McCarthy off which Maguire said wasn't an issue. If all the budget was spent then how was Bignot allowed to go on recruitment drive? Surely he'd have had to work with what we had, as there was nothing in the budget and its not like we have really shifted many out to accommodate those signings. Then, following the Kidderminster debacle it comes out that we are going full time, this despite crowds being lower than budgetted and paying off our manager. So how was going full time costed up? I always felt Lawrence Kirby had a grip on the finances and wouldn't let us get into financial trouble. Anyway, will wait until Thursday when we may see things clearer. If it's true about the money then we quite simply have to dip into the rainy day fund and plan for Conference North now so that we don't end up doing an Alty.
