Can all you DCers suggest why we only seem to play for 45 minutes at HOME as well as AWAY?
Sometimes, like today, we wait until the game is gone before performing, other times we start well and fall away to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
This is one of the most frustrating elements of our team and IT HAPPENS REGULARLY
When we're good, WE'RE GOOD, when we're bad, WE'RE AWFUL
Is it just the way it is? Are we too cautious? Is it the formation/tactics? Is it psychological? Etc. Etc.etc
IS IT FIXABLE - IF SO, HOW?

I think today it was more like Maidstone taking their foot off the gas rather than us performing in the 2nd half.

It's unbelievable that we are still trying to play with the 4-5-1 formation so when we reverted back to 4-4-2 we looked much better today though Maidstone had done enough to relax and see the game out. The scary thing for me is Jon still tries to play that formation when EVERYONE else who watches Chester can see it's not working fact. Last week with tv cameras there we looked so so poor and today against a team who can't win we get tossed. I don't know if Jon is the man we need to manage our club as the very basic stuff that's right in front of him pass him by and this season could see us lower than last! Back too 4-4-2 and let's stop playing Joyce he wouldn't get in my Sunday league team!

I agree with you 100% But there must be something else going on How many times have we been 1 or 2 up at home and sat back at the start of the second half only to concede, then panic sets in etc. Or, we seem to be half asleep, go behind and have to chase the game. Maybe it's all about game management and other teams seem to be better than us at it Maybe it's the lack of a killer instinct when we're ahead

Jon Mc Carthy doesnt even demand that the players get fit in pre season (Eg Astles )

He's a good manager but I don't understand why he doesn't get the basics right.

That said, I don't think Astles would be the player he is without that extra bulk.

To his credit he is hitting the gym, having 1 on 1 training, so hopefully he will get results

We never play well because our players are not fit, many are knackered after 30 mins!
Astles and Durrell look like sunday league players overweight and not fit, this is a shame as both lads have ability and are letting themselves down.
Some players don't put any effort in and let others do the spade work ie Richards and George !

Rather have Joyce than George.
Think Joyce offers more and is a decent footballer, good passer. I'd like to see him get a proper run in place of George

Joyce will also be on a fraction of the salary that Luke George is on.
