Would anybody be able to list our non-football paid staff, their roles and how much is the total budget for these employees.
For instance what are Mark Maguire's duties? Is he responsible for attracting money into the club and if so how many times his salary is he expected to generate each season. I've been told he's on £45k p.a., which is great if he can treble that for the playing budget. I also wonder what Tony "smiler" Allen does for his money. Who else is on a salary? If the playing budget is going to be increased next season because of Mark's activity then great, but I feel I've heard that the playing budget depends on how much we get for Sam. All genuine questions. I've asked Alan Povey about the budget, but I gave up after listening to his saying that we increase CFU membership by 1,000. That brings in £12k by my reckoning hardly enough to pay for a few overnight stays.

I'm not sure its particularly fair to be discussing salaries for individuals, but I kinda agree with where you're coming from......we need to be extracting as much value for money out of these as possible. Mark McGuire speaks well but perhaps its too early in his reign to see anything come of his ideas yet. As for Tony Allen, I've still not forgiven him after the Heneghan debacle.

I think it's totally fair, we as fans are paying their wages, and if they're not performing, why are they still here?

Can't really disclose what they are paid, much like don't disclose players wages.
But I agree could do with conforming who is on payroll and how their roles bring value to the club.

Tony Allen should resign or be asked to leave asap.

And before anyone has a meltdown again about this being negative or singling someone out or going to mean the end of Chester FC as we know it, just remember these are the issues Chester Fans have and are talking about away from the forum.
It's a good thing the forum is here so they can be aired, discussed and potentially addressed rather than staying in the underground

Thank you for the mainly positive responses. I realise that the person who told me what MM was on was probably plucking figures from mid air and I would hope it's less than a player salary. The point is are there any other full time people on salaries and how is the value they add to the club assessed. I strongly felt that Allen should not have been employed by the club after his previous stint. He sometimes sits in the empty seat next to me and I have to resist the feeling of telling him to sit elsewhere. I'm assured by a board member that the Hennighan fiasco was the fault of Steve Burr, who was conveniently sacked by then. I think the point of this whole thread is that unless these employees are bringing added value to the club I'd rather see the money in the playing budget.

I think it's totally fair, we as fans are paying their wages, and if they're not performing, why are they still here? Of course it's not fair to disclose personal salaries. We have no such right. We use our votes to elect directors who are trusted to run the business in line with normal business practices, which include confidentiality regarding personal terms and conditions.

Why do people keep going on about the legends lounge. We're told, I believe, that it has paid for itself so it would appear it was worth doing. Is it just jealousy from those that cannot afford to use it. I've personally never used it and to be honest probably never will but from what I've heard it's an enjoyable experience. There's nothing elitist about it as it's open to anyone who can afford it.

All football grounds have hospitality, it's a valuable source of income and a good way of impressing sponsors etc. If folk want to pay for it then great, I might treat myself to a game in their later in the season for my 30th birthday. As you mentioned, it's now paid for itself so I'm struggling to see why people still talk about it.

Function rooms are intended to provide year round income for clubs not just on match days. It's the amount of revenue they generate not their existence that should be of interest/concern.

I've just been talking to someone who says Mark Maguire is doing a fantastic job, but couldn't elaborate.
Does anyone know what his duties are?

Why is Tony Allen still at the club, what is his role? He was employed when no job was advertised !
Having him at the club does not sit well with many fans ! A massive own goal by whoever sanctioned his employment.

I've just been talking to someone who says Mark Maguire is doing a fantastic job, but couldn't elaborate. Does anyone know what his duties are? Somebody replied to your opening comment with the job advert. what people need to also remember is that the role of the Chair of the CFU has changed since Mark was employed. Previously the Chair has been relied on heavily, which as an unpaid role, is very demanding and was a major factor as to why there has been such a massive turnover in recent years. The Operations Board recommended that a CEO was employed, which would alleviate the demands on the Chair and hopefully bring about some stability.
