Absolutely gutted after last nights meeting. The fan owned model was to ensure these situations never arose again and I am absolutely devastated that the people I trusted to run the club have brought it to ruin, by sheer imcompetence.
The Chairman should resign immediately and a figurehead we can all unite behind be appointed. The likes of Simon.Banksy Mark need to be co-opted onto a Fighting Comittee immediately
. If our expenses are 90k per month. With some 30k fixed (ground rent. travel etc) The the only really sayings to be made are from the 60k for salaries. 40 % of which is players wages. The players on 2 year contracts need to be transfer listed and told to find other clubs.
We need to speak to the PFA their agents and a contract lawyer asap. Those with one year contacts with 30 game clauses need to be told they will not be activated and with the exception of Astles Jones Crawford and Archer transfer listed.
Jones and Crawford should be offered new contracts asap. To safegaurd any transfer fees.
If we have to get through the next few months with non contract players, youth players and by beg stealing and borrowing loanees. So be it.
An immediate review of all out going expediture needs to be made, together with any staff reductions, on the non playing side. Until income matches rhe reduced expenditure.
If we are in a life or death situation, we will need to try to galvinise the support base and try and get improved attendences, for the remaining games.but that wont happen under the existing leadership. We need to lead this from the front.
Other possibilities, are bringing forward the staged payment from Sam Hughes or negoitating with Leicester City, to get them to buy out Sam Hughes sell out clause. This may bring in a sizable fee. Hoping we get 20k for Alabi and pressing ahead with the stagecoach deal which could give us another 40k.
If our playing budget is going to be reduced from 450k to 250k then a return to part time and regional football, might give us some breathing space. But a clear strategy going forward needs to be put in place. There should be 3 strands. 1.Developing our own players from the academy (Hughes Jones Crawford) 2. Developing players discarded by Football League Academies (Alabi Hennegan) and scouting and developing players from the lower leagues With 2 year contracts only given to academy players or those under the age of 23 with proven sell on value. But that is for the future the main aim is survival.
