Since yesterday's board appointments I have personally rejoined the CFU. I've been trying getting some mates to renew, but it has been pointed out to me that despite paying the full £12, all memberships expire on 31st May?
Is this correct? If so it's certainly putting plenty off paying for a years membership, only to have to renew it again in 16 weeks time.
I'm sure there's plenty who've paid their £12 for a year in the last week who will be surprised when renewal papers arrive in what, 3 months time?
This really needs to be sorted, we were told years ago we'd soon have the option of a rolling £1/month direct debit membership, removing the hassle of sorting a renewal out every year as it'd all be automatic. I'd imagine if we had this in place from the start the 3,000+ members wouldn't have dwindled to ~1000.

I'd imagine everyone who is buying a membership now is doing so to financially support the club in their time of need. So the length of the membership is pretty insignificant. It's all about getting money in the coffers - so in 16 weeks time, there's a club to buy a membership of.

You're not paying £12 for 4 months. It happened when I joined last April. The membership will take effect now and won't expire until May 2019.
Its a minor issue with the CFU Database which is how it was described to me last year when I had the same thing

Maybe so, but if it's putting some off membership, then it becomes an issue as it's preventing money getting into the club that otherwise might have done so. Plenty on here wont care, and regularly put in far more than £12 anyway, but on a larger scale it's still a business and the process needs to be seamless, simple, and leave people feeling like they've done well.

The membership form just says "Please note that all memberships now expire on 31st May." though. Can someone confirm it will actually run until May 2019? If so, we should be shouting about this. It'd be great if when I'm trying to get people to renew, I can tell them it'll last for 16 months.

Should be easy really, if you have 8 months unused membership at common renewal date then pay for 4 to bring in line. Not rocket science.

In principle you are right but in reality it will be a massive own goal if the membership only lasts 16 weeks. In the grand scheme of things another 4 months free membership is irrelevant.

Can I check somehow on the website when my membership expires? I renewed last week
