-------------------Lynch---------------------
----Killock----Hughes----Astles----Hunt-----
Chapell/Durrell--Shaw---Lloyd----Horwood
-------------Alabi-------Richards-------------
Subs: Hudson, Waters, George, O'Brien, Chapell/Durrell
Although we're away from home, I think it's obvious we need to return to 4-4-2 and get some width in the side.
I think the team picks itself other than the wide players, and whilst I like Durrell, he isn't a natural wide player, so I can't decide between him and Chapell. Mahon would be the preference but won't be fit, so I've gone for Horwood, as clearly Macca doesn't feel that O'Brien has proven himself in training.

I'll be mighty pleased if that's the line-up at Southport, but why do I feel that Hughes won't be in his best position at the heart of the defence?

This is my preferred team as opposed to my expected team, I imagine Hughes will be right back, Hudson centre back, Lloyd left mid with Shaw/George/Joyce centre mids and Alabi up front alone.

It's utter madness not to pick Hughes at centre half. I would go with Durrell, and use Chapell from the bench. He has some pace which we lack at times. Not sure that's what Macca will go for though.

5 3 2 formation with the objective of not conceding Lynch Vassell Killock Hughes Astles Hunt O brien Shaw Lloyd Richards Alabi I don't think that would work. It would help out with our defensive issues however Vassell is not fit yet.

I'd set up to go and get at Southport in the 1st half (like Maidstone did to us) then revert to 4-4-2 once ahead.

Lynch Killock Hughes Astles Hunt Chappell Lloyd Shaw Horwood Alabi Richards Really need to have a go for this one and get 3 points. Wouldn't be surprised if Macca started with Hudson instead of Astles though as the big man hasn't been his usual solid self past few games (sob). Durrell doesn't do enough for us imo, although as others have said his best position would be just off Alabi like when we played Macc away in October which was the best I'd seen him for us. Richards needs to put a performance in, because in the FA cup it was obvious he just couldn't be bothered Both games against Southport so far this season we haven't been up for it so here's hoping for a turnaround COYB
