Had an email off Paypal saying my account has been limited They need Photo ID [driving licence] and photo of bank statement or utility bill before they will lift restrictions There is a substantion amount of money in the account I have phoned them up and they seem to confirm this However this information would give hackers or phishers access to my bank account Has anyone else had similar emails or their Paypal account limited in this way ?

My wife's had the same thing happen to her, and still hasn't managed to rectify it as her passport is out of date and they won't accept it as ID.
Seems very draconian and I'm not sure what the thinking behind it is.

On a ESF funded project I work on driving license is not accepted as a form of ID, and neither is utility bills. Seems odd that a company like PayPal would take this stance.

Surprised you haven't called them cucks yet x

Surprised you haven't called them cucks yet x I don't think I've ever used the term 'cucks' in my life, but anyway, it's just the suddenness and severity of it that surprises me. If you're going abroad you know you need to get your passport sorted, but if you're just using PayPal you don't expect to be suddenly asked to prove your identity and get your account frozen if you can't, so I can understand why people are suspicious. It is mentioned in their T&Cs that they might do this though, it's just that no-one reads them.
