www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-sign-youngster-levent-12667630Not normally one to take too much of an interest in the goings on of the FAW. Clearly Nomads have got a serious production line on their hands, not only with this young lad, but as quoted in the article a total of 29 youth players signed to professional teams in the last 7 years is phenomenal. Begs the question, are we really doing enough as a club to put the infrastructure into place to enable us to capture and develop some of these young players?

Wow! Even if it's some of our fans who live near the Deeside area or club officials they should be looking for young players in the LOW. It's right on our doorstep.

The club know all about LOW players. Signing contracted players however is a lot harder. they are looking at others constantly. Chester play CQN over all age groups regularly so will have known about Gudungon.

How many of those 29 players played for Connahs Quay first team and how much did they receive in transfer fees? Can't see any mention of any fee for the lad going to United.

I know a few kids in the Nomads academy and I think that they are run very professionally. I also believe that Chester and Wrexham have serious competition with the likes of Nomads, TNS and Airbus academies in searching for the next local gem.

The difference between the Chester FC academy the the Gap Connahs Quay academy is self explanitory. Chester FC develop players to retain for their own pathway hopefully through to youth and first team level at Chester FC. Gap Connahs Quay develop players to move on to other clubs to keep forging relationships with clubs to obtain fixtures therefore attracting players to join the academy which entails quite expensive subscriptions i am told. I would say that advertising that they have 27 players within their academy that are wanted by professional clubs but have stayed at Connahs Quay maintaining a high standard of training and matches would surely sound more enticing for prospective players. To me it sounds like the Connahs Quay academy is being run as a 'shop window'. Chester FC have it right in my opinion.
