Lucas Dawson reminds me of Pirlo, bit of a stretch that I know, but stick with me. Plays the game at the slow Italian pace as displayed by Juve recently against Spurs, he likes to sit in the Hole and dictate the play. The problem is in British football we're use to Central Defensive Mids in that position, who do the dirty work and generally just kick everyone. Lucas wants to pick the ball up off the CB's, get his head up and pick a pass. Problem is we have had virtual no movement off the ball all season, so when he's looking for a runner he finds nothing and instead opts to either pass it sideways or backwards (which frustrates the crowd). Never thought i'd ever see someone compare dawson to pirlo

Surly just a rumor well thats a good incentive to renew my season ticket who has sanctioned that? A MANAGER WHO MIGHT NOT EVEN BE HERE NEXT SEASON SAY roberts & Vose that would be a start.

The bigger worry for me is this suggestion that the football working group are offering players new contracts at this stage of the season. I assume this means that the manager has been told he is staying in the job next season? Because I can't fathom why else we would be offering contracts to 'luxury' players like Dawson for a potential new manager to be burdened with next season. I can fully understand offering the young lads contracts because of the financial implications (and the fact that they are good footballers), but players like Dawson? If I were a manager applying for this job in the summer I'd be fuming to find out that contracts had already been dished out to players who have been frankly appalling most of the season, before I even arrived. I don't think Dawson would be a bad player in the Conference North in a team playing with a bit of confidence, but its the timing of this and the manner of it which worries me. Very good point - I'd like to know who is sanctioning this if it isn't the manager. This is the same sort of nonsense we were peddled when McCarthy was given that ludicrous contract extension - "a football league club is interested so we have to secure our assets". Well that turned out to be a pretty spectacularly expensive securing of an asset didn't it?

The football working group have to tie down our assets regardless of who the manager is. If people think we can afford Dom Vose, they're on glue.

We signed him from Telford, who’s manager described him as the best midfielder in the Conference North at the time. No chance Rowe-Turner will be here beyond next season. Unless he fancies earning £50 a week. Maybe still not worth it then. Nope. He left Telford in 2016. He was signed by Chester in March 2017. Practically a year without a club. From what I remember being reported when we signed him he quit football for a while for personal reasons. Also there's no telling how much the contract he's being offered is worth. It could be a case of he's on say £350 a week now and he's been offered £200 a week for example, there's little chance he's going to accept it but it covers the club's back should someone else come in for him. I fall somewhere in the middle with him, he's not as good a technical footballer as some make out but he clearly isn't cut out for a relegation dogfight and would probably be decent in a good team, problem is we'll probably be struggling next season as well.

For any compensation (if we'd be entitled to it, given his age), the deal we offered has to be the same or improved terms.

re your post DODGE two things one hes over the age of compensation rules reported on this thread he is 24 i think 23 is the limit for possible compo i think its true if a player is offered a new contract to avoid him leaving for nothing(should he be 23 and under)the terms of the contract must be on a par with his current contract otherwise clubs would be offering crazy low money just to say something has been offered anyone know the full details of the rules ?

Oh right wasn't aware of that, seems an odd move then unless there's strong evidence someone is coming in for him. I remember he wasn't on a contract at the start of pre-season so perhaps he isn't much of an earner?

This is where Tony Allen needs to earn his wage to see if we will get any compo or not
