Made a great impression in his 3 games in charge at The Shay. He stopped the rot and delivered 4 much needed and gratefully received points at a time when we were starting to panic. He immediately steadied the team, gave them confidence and structure and conducted himself with a calm professionalism. In my humble opinion, he is good to go again if he fancies another spell in charge. I'm going to stick my neck out and predict he will be at the helm at Chester when next season kicks off again.

If Neil Young can give clear instructions to the players it will be a big help. Reading the Chron article, and listening to Bignot interviews, confuses the hell out of me. He uses twenty words when five would do, and those twenty make little sense. I loose the will to live following his chain of thought. Goodness knows what the players make of it. I felt for Matty Waters stuck out on the wing last week at Wrexham with no one passing to him... Game plan? !!!

And the revolving players entrance has been reinstalled, NY was down at the ground cutting the ribbon on it earlier.
My prediction, this will not end well.

How exactly will it be a revolving door policy for players when we have no money spare for new signings? And four of the lads in the Derby aren't taking a wage from the club. He's doing this voluntarily, Bignot spoke with him and asked him to come in to help him out. It's until the end of the season. I don't see what the problem is tbh. Bignot needs help, said it himself he would have walked had Neil not been able to come in. Neil Young loves the club, has a vast knowledge of players at Evo Stik and Conference North level.

It was slightly tongue in cheek if I'm honest. But it's pretty obvious that Young will be the boards inside man and is likely to take over from bignot for the new season. He's failed at every club he's been at since leaving us, and without a massive pot of money that he waded through in his first 3.5 years I'm not sure he's the right man for us. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong but I'm massively sceptical. If you believe everything you read in the paper then fine, be led down that path if you choose

I also don't take much stock in conspiracy theories. I agree I wouldn't like to go back with his as a manager but he's already announced his retirement from management and I can't see him going back on that.

Like all but the few doomsayers I'm made up with this. Club legend. It cannot get any worse, so it's worth a try.

This is a positive move bringing NY back and I certainly don't mind him staying in a "Director of Football" type role, after all we desperately need people with a footballing background to advise this football club and with his vast knowledge of players from around the area we can begin to sound them out ready for next season. Hopefully NY will remain with us in this capacity in the future.

Won't work out, the club's going backwards, need new blood and fresh ideas, same as bringing ex players back, james and Hannah haven't worked out.

If their roles are different but complimentary and both are comfortable with the arrangement and can work in tandem rather than in parallel then this can only be better than we have had for the last season and a half. Can only imagine that this is a trial run for the rest of the season and if it brings a little bit of success and lifts the gloom before the inevitable relegation happens then so much the better but not expecting miracles. It may be beneficial in developing plans for next season and beyond even if neither of them actually stays long term. Nothing to lose, hope it works.

It might be great news but with not a pot to piddle in and no quality players what can he do even the Great Soprendo couldn't change our fortunes

The guy has no supporting staff of his own bar Callum who has his own job to do with the youth academy. Eases pressure on Bignot and allows him to have someone there to bounce ideas off. And it appears Neil's role is entirely voluntary as well.

When we reformed we were in Evostick and didn't need that much and we were getting great crowds and winning - next season we won't have a pot to piddle in with 250k budget and competing with the likes of York Stockport Kidderminster Darlington etc it woresearch out averge wage 15k per player - that's minimum wage

Stabilise the club with performances, results, and then put the foundations down off the field for us to move forward. When I talk about foundations I mean putting serious plans down to improve the infrastructure of the club, that means fund raising for 4G pitches, expanding the bar and hospitality, proper dedicated conferencing/function facilities that can be hired out away from match days etc

Sirfred so are you saying we had more than £250k budget the first season we reformed i recall we raised about £30000 to to join the league so we still started with a very small budget maybe someone can confirm .

My take on this:
1. Is it costing us anything? Apparently not. 2. Is Bignot happy with it? Apparently so. 3. Can it make put us in a worse position than we're in now? Technically yes in terms of league position, but I wouldn't say so in terms of relegation or games won/drawn.
So based on all of above, i'm ok with this news.
