You must be the only one. Wrong. Please accept my humble apologies I thought most chester fans wanted him gone. But what do I know I'm just a Wrexham fan who just lost there manager to a 1st division club. (not to upset)

Good luck Deano, I and many other Wrexham fans wish him well and am quite happy with Carl Darlington and Andy Davies seeing us through to the end of the season. Look on the bright aide we won't be trying to poach Marcus Bignuts from you!

I don't blame Dean one little bit - he has to do what he believes is the right thing for his career and his family.
No problem though - we will find an able replacement.
As posted by Geoffreytoss - we will not be chasing your manager - good luck with him for the remainder of the season..

It must be very difficult for a club at this level to find a manager who ticks all the boxes and is gone before he completes what he set out to do. He could end up managing in the Premiership. In the meantime Wrexham have to try and keep the momentum going.

Good luck to Dean at Walsall must of been difficult for him Considering he may well have had some success with Wrexham. Be interesting to see how their promotion push goes now.

Dean Keates signed his contract, with two years plus to run, with one aim expressed to him by his employer. To get Wrexham back in the Football League. Yet, he goes with us looking likely play off candidates with 9 games to go.
Walsall's manager only got sacked 4 days ago. Then we had Keates 'ruling himself out of the running' for the Walsall job in the media. It later transpires Dean had 'approached' Walsall...etc etc IT'S ALL BULLSHIT! All a bit quick...
I also think the Walsall F.C pounce for an unproven manager is a strange one as well?
This might turn out for Dean having 'won the Lotto' if things go tits up at Wallsall...? He's signed a nice contract... Can't blame him in this day and age.
Keates has gone now so there's no point in ruminating over it. It would be interesting to know what the compensation package is though?
It'll be interesting to see the players' response at Woking.
Massive. Absolutely massive.

This kind of thing is never good. If Sharps hadn’t buggered off to Walsall when he did then we’d probably be fine. No criticism of Sharps like. But then this with Keates!!! What is it with Walsall screwing over other clubs by nicking crucial managerial staff from clubs in decent form?
I hate Wrexham like but completely feel their fans’ pain over this

Is there anything stopping Keates quiting his current job (Wrexham) then starting a new one (Walsall)?

In time as a fan owned Club that figure should be published soon. It should be enough to even use that compensation to get a manager if they're currently at another Club.

It's not quite right that a bigger club can take a key staff member at a crucial time of the season. Should there be a transfer window for managers?

The way some fans talk about Bignot is he could do a good job with a decent budget, feel free to approach him.

Is he going to be paid significantly more than Wrexham were paying him. I doubt Walsall's crowds are much different than Wrexham's. When they gave Keates a 3-year deal I suspect they did more due diligence on him than our muppets did with McCarthy. Did it never occur to them that Sharps might have been the 'main man'.

Craig Bellamy seems favourite for the Job at the moment. Risky choice that with no experience what so ever. Just when I thought I couldn't hate that arsehole anymore

Disagree with 1st part. Unfortunately for Wrexham they are still a non-league club. Walsall are league 1, 2 divisions higher. They will pay him more, plus it’s his local club, who he played for. And he will have a bigger budget for players. He couldn’t turn it down. Plus let’s be honest if he didn’t get promoted this season, and made a poor start next season they’d all want him sacked in November. That’s the way it is. He had to take this chance.

Keates will be earning MUCH more as manager of Wallsall than he was with Wrexham.

Will be a big loss for them.
I was always impressed with how he came across in post match interviews, spoke a lot of sense.
It’ll be interesting to see who they get, Askey???

I look at it as an opportunity - Dean has done okay but with a lot of support. Hope you are right about Askey - would love to see him at Wrexham Hope you lot manage to avoid the drop whilst hoping we get promoted! Would miss the games though!

I feel distraught, ready to reach for the bottle and even seek out Black Mamba at Wrexham Bus Station if Bookies favourite Gary Brabin is even considered, or even worse, shortlisted by our board. What have we done to deserve being linked with Moonhead? Haven't we had enough foOOkeeng suffering since 2002? Nooooooooooo! Moonhead linked to Wrexham
