Interesting signing a CM - with Lloyd, Shaw, Joyce and George all in the squad he may struggle to get a game. Unless the injuries to Shaw and George could keep them out for a few weeks. This is the type of player we should be signing though, hopefully he does well for us.

Was hoping we'd signed a striker, when I read the Title. There must be one out there surely ?

Seems a good signing
Surely priority is a forward since we've had two for about 6 months!
Also thought we had no budget for new signings?

Short term deal until the end of the season probably, if he makes an impact he will probably earn a contract next season. Seems a player we've been crying out for, a tall imposing midfielder. I always feel like new players have a tendency to score debut goals, so fingers crossed!

New signings can only score goals if they actually play !!! lets hope this isn't another Marsh/O'Brien situation.

I've also heard he can play centre half as well.

Hate to say told you so. But I'd did on the other thread, regarding the closed friendly the other week. Lucas is the third midfielder that we've been craving for when Lloyd and shaw are knacked, which they have right to be this season. I know most will be craving a striker, which we do need, but Lucas is one hell of a signing at this level.

Clearly signed so that we can continue to take a look at him with a view to next season. Remember there's no guarantee that Lloyd will be here and I have a feeling that we will not renew George's contract (speculation on my part that's all). Don't know how many minutes he will get, but hopefully he'll continue to impress in training and in friendlies and we have a decent player already in the bag and settled in ready for next season. Welcome to Chester Lucas.

Lucas has plenty of non league games under his belt where as Marsh had a chance to shine in the trophy and looked worse than our academy players, no disrespect to those lads, but you expect more of a signing that's brought in to score goals.

I'm hoping for the best for Lucas. He sounds good and experienced. I just hope it's not similar to Marsh/O'Brien.

We're signing one of the most technically gifted players from the conference north last season. he's 23 so has potential to go on an be a success. I think thats enough to be excited and considering our budget i think it's a very good signing.

If he's as good as Heneghan and Alabi then that will do for me!

Impressive capture judging by reports from his previous clubs. Fair play to the board and management in bringing him in.

This looks a really promising signing. Started at Stoke, moved to Telford after some loans in the football league and his manager at Telford said he was the best midfielder in the whole of the conference north. Plenty of people have been calling for a tall commanding central midfielder in the past and looks like this could be just that. 🔵⚪️

This lad sounds decent by the comments on blue army even Nuneaton who had him said he is good.

Sounds a promising signing. Looking forward to seeing him in a Chester shirt showing us what he can do.
I notice his twitter picture is of him warming up at Besitkas v Stoke in the Europa League. He must have been highly thought of by those at Stoke if he was in the squad for that game (even if they did field a weakened team).

Aye, it's good to be positive. What Chester fans being positive we have a small section who are only happy if they are bad mouthing players or anyone who works at the club, win or lose they still have to have a dig, unbelievable.

Looks like we might as well try to loan out marsh now as he's never going to break into the first team by the looks of things

I can see where your coming from, to most he's just another player fallen from grace. Some years ago now I had a few friends in Stoke academy teams so would go and watch when I could. Never remember seeing heneghan or alabi, but Dawson stuck out like a saw thumb in the games I saw him play and for all the right reasons.

Some real positives there football wise in what feels like a very sad night.
