I've sadly listened to this gwar, and his music, like Adeles is just dreary and depressing, don't know how it's popular unless we have a nation of depressives. I wouldn't even call it depressing, just dull. It's too boring to make me feel anything. Joy Division, The Smiths, Leonard Cohen, Nirvana, Sigur Ros - these artists have music you might call 'depressing', but it's powerful stuff. There seem to be millions of people who just want their music to be as bland and inoffensive as possible!

The new Post War Glamour Girls album Swan Songs. Criminally overlooked British band with three great albums now.

This thread needs reviving. We need a music thread.
What are people listening to at the moment? Three of my 2018 favourites so far are:
Shame - Songs of Praise
Just seen them live. They barely look old enough to get served at the pub but they’ve got a brilliant post-punk snarl and kind of Liam Gallagher-esque arrogance to them. Very exciting British band.
Preoccupations - New Material
Gloomy art/post-punk in the vein of Joy Division and Interpol. Very serious and sombre.
Soccer Mommy - Clean
Simple bedroom pop but with heartfelt lyrics and Pixies-like bass lines that give it real character and depth

I am currently putting all the vynil onto the computer so have listened to some right dross of late, (both the Mrs music and I have to admit some albums I bought in the past and now wish I hadn't)
For pleasure listening I still end up sticking early seventies War albums on the turntable.

Jesus, the sound on Later with Jools seemed awful tonight, as did most of the acts. Everyone’s vocals seemed too quiet. Shame did their best with the anthemic ‘One Rizla’ but weren’t helped by a cock-up just before they went on.

Looking forward to Idles on Later with Jools tomorrow. One of the best British bands of recent years, along with Sleaford Mods and Shame.

I have just released a double album with 36 tracks donated by bands across the UK. Most tracks are either remixes or previously unreleased tracks by the bands. Artists include Ian prowse, Evil Blizzard, Spizzenergi, Theatre of Hate Sex gang children, Skeletal Family , Ferocious Dog. The album has just been given 8/10 in Vive le Rock magazine whichis amazing for the 1st awareness album of its type. Check out the album which is available for £15 plus p&p @ Www.rockofffibro.bigcartel.com
