Chester FC can confirm that we have agreed to pay the broadcasting fee to Boreham Wood Football Club in order to provide our free commentary service for this weekend’s game.
Media and Communications Officer, Albert Davies, said: “The Media Team made a commitment at the start of the season to cover all home and away games, and this weekend is no exception.
“I’d like to thank the Board for supporting us on this in order to make our service worthwhile to fans who will be unable to attend this game – and also the rest of the media team who have been extremely dedicated to the cause this season.”
This decision was taken by the Board in order to provide a free platform for fans to tune in to the match who could not make it to the game.
Director of Fan Engagement, Jeff Banks, said: “We would like to thank the Chester FC Media Team volunteers for their dedicated commitment over this season, and for following the Blues both home and away to deliver a sterling service.

Grumble. Hope we hold them to their obligations, and refuse to pay should they fail to meet them.
Dropouts due to unreliable internet connections at non-league football grounds, or any of the other issues that crop up from time to time, are perfectly acceptable when it's done on a voluntary / goodwill basis.
Boreham Wood taking these payments and charging for media access should mean a perfect internet connection and complimentary ales for the Blues Live lads throughout. Otherwise we should refuse to pay and ignore their emails after Saturday afternoon.

We should have told them to stuff it, I think. Principles before service.
What did they want last season £50-80? Better things that can be spent on right now than commentary on a meaningless game.

What a complete waste of money, if we were fighting to stay up I could understand, but as we're already relegated and most people have lost intrest .

I think the media team committed to covering every match, so really as a thanks to their efforts on behalf of the fans that cannot get to matches this really on the scale of things wont make any difference to the club finances. More money probably wasted on biscuits!

A big thank you from Norway ! It’s nice to see the club being positive and thinking of us that can’t attend. I’m probably more exited about following tomorrow’s game than the past month or so. Really looking forward to listening in to hear how Calum McIntyre sets up the team and how they perform tomorrow.

More money probably wasted on biscuits! It's less about the money, more about the principle I think. Boreham Wood are the only club in the division that insist on charging for this service and it's against the spirit of the division. They're a nasty club and it's not right that they should be profiting from something nobody else charges for. It seems a bit odd that last year, when our commentaries were a paid subscription service, we said no, but this year, when it's free and volunteer run and we're in financial trouble, we've coughed up.I get that we don't want to upset our fans right now, but personally I think it would've been a stronger and prouder statement to tell them to do one. But others seem happy, so that's just what I think.

Should have told them to stick it IMHO. Not a big hit on our budget but a thing of principle. Hey-ho.

I think this service gets taken for granted at times, but the media lads do a great job week in week out for no reward other than the hope of seeing a rare 3 points!
Keep up he good work lads!

They are going to need the money to pay their youth team fines after Wednesdays game. It reminded me of Northampton away in 94.

Just to set the record straight on this one, I doubt we would have paid the amount requested by Boreham Wood for this game had it not been for the commitment of Albert and his media team. Having been on that side of things before, I know just how much these lads put in to bringing you all the best coverage possible throughout the season and it was their intention to do all 46 matches home and away this season. Speaking personally I think it's disgusting what Boreham Wood do in charging the media to provide updates or commentary at their ground, especially considering we welcome their own people at our ground, but I believe more in doing things the right way morally, and also ensuring our own media team have the backing of the board on this subject. There's a few clubs from this league I won't miss playing next season but Boring Wood top the list. Repulsive club. Several other clubs have complained about their media policy yet BW insist on pursuing it.
