I take Neil's explanation at face value, A pretty detailed explanation of his brief stay and reasons for departure. I understand why he previously didn't want to make a formal statement at a difficult time for the club. I understand why he now feels compelled to put his side of events following yesterday's podcast where the board still feel flummoxed. What I don't understand is why he couldn't have explained his reasoning to someone he felt he could trust e.g. Jeff Banks. For what it is worth I favour the NY strategy for next season rather than the one that the FWG have come up with, but that is only my opinion which is based as much on instinct as any thing else. No guarantee that either will work in our current financial situation. I fear that we will end up with a double relegation, followed by more blood letting,

His 'crime' was to back MB it seems, just as MB's 'crime' was to make the point that the club needed to talk to the fans. I thought we had cleared out the rotten wood from the board, but listening to Youngy tonight makes it obvious that we haven't and that we are still being damaged by egos. On a more general level, Youngy came across as a million times more passionate and informed about the club and what we need than Jeff and the debt collector that preceded him on the show (no offence to Jeff). I remain seriously worried. Come on now CD. You don't have to agree with it but at least have a bit of respect. Everyone needs to earn a living, whether that be debt collection, traffic wardens, referees, etc. It's like this Al. I'm happy to have respect for people that help those who are owed money get it back. But I will never, NEVER, have respect for anyone who taps on someone's car window in a car park to tell them that they are getting sacked, and that goes for both the debt collector and Calvin Hughes, because from that disgusting and stupid act on their part they will never get my respect again, understand now?

It’s good to hear the different sides of the story, although some of it doesn’t add up and sounds like a lot of arse covering.
At the end of the day we just want a football club that is run as professional as possible.
The past few weeks have been very damaging to the clubs reputation and it feels like much of it could have been avoided if we had done things the right way.
I don’t think we’ll ever really get to the bottom of what has gone on, but there is no hiding place now!. What we need to do now is focus on what we are going to do to put things right.

Sigh, this is not getting better is it. So much contradiction on these interviews. NY was spoken to, NY wasn't spoken to...a very sad state of affairs. Trying desperately to make a balanced opinion here and struggling to do so. I do worry about this FWG and the apparent total lack of footballing knowledge which in itself is a contradiction. The thought of the FWG selecting the next Manager... Yes that really is worrying. They are not fit to do that task. The next manager MUST be right.

I strongly agree with NY that the way forward is to go part time at least for next season. The finances do not add up if we try to continue on a full time basis. Thinking back to the Chronicle pod-cast I think working on an average attendance of 1700 as LK proposed is not realistic.....far better to work to 1200/1500 average attendance and if we exceed this figure ploughing more money into the squad. I think staying full time is a recipe for either running out of money or relegation to the Evostick league. I have far more confidence in NY proposals than the FWG

What I don’t understand is why would the Club be signing any players before the new Manager is appointed. Last thing we need on a tight budget is freshly signed players surplus to requirements. Just doesn’t make any sense.

Why would NY be responsible for recruitment when it's surely the job of the manager to identify which players they want?

What would worry me is a guy potentially tasked with recruitment saying " I've identified half a dozen possible signings that fit the profile but you might want to scout them again because it's been 6-8 months since I last checked them out". Especially with the season ending in two weeks. Hardly gives an opportunity to watch them in a competitive game. The right Manager for us will surely have his own list of potential signings. If not, we make the wrong choice (again). As he'll only potentially have around £80k free to spend on his squad, might be a good idea to let him choose some of his own targets. I'm getting more uncomfortable with the whole thing day by day. The staying full time approach may be the best way forward over time, IF we survive next season. In the National North or at all.

If he manages to get a Liverpool or Everton X1 down here that would bring cash in and get people down. Need to do that now, before they plan pre season tours etc. I can understand him setting some things up now. There are some local clubs that we usually play as a pr exercise too. Not sure we can just sit and wait two or three weeks to appoint a manager before we do anything.

The way I see it, the football side of any club is the most important and yet most divisive parts. EVERYONE has an opinion on the football side about who is a good player, who is a good manager, what tactics we should use etc etc. What you have got to do is find some common ground and work together, not this glorified dick waving from both sides. I agree with Neil that part time is the way forward for the next 12 months. I also agree that long term we need to look at trying to get as many of those academy lads in through to the first team squad. With a 250k budget and us having those liabilities. It makes so much more sense to be able to attract better part time players than inexperienced kids, which, let's face it, is all we can expect to bring in at 11k per year. Not sure how we are going to get the academy boys who are now fulltime through and motivated with the offer of part time senior football. Not saying part time is right or wrong in our current predicament but pretty sure the majority of our scholars have been attracted to the club on the basis there was a potential pathway to fulltime football. If that isn't on offer there is a huge risk they won't be here next season. They will undoubtedly attract attention especially given their national profile raising performances in the National Youth Alliance Cup.
