I have great respect for the work our manager is putting in, and to be 11 pts clear of the relegation zone at this stage is a fair achievement given our budget. It's also good to see how highly regarded he is by the players. It must be a great confidence boost for the players that he wants to play a settled side, and not bring in loanees all of the time. I'd like to see him continue in his role. However, I am worried about JM's ruthless streak - does he have one? Hudson has been making costly mistakes for a good few months now for example. He can play well, but he needs to get stronger physically. Whilst not having vassell is a blow, I'd much rather have killock as a right back and keep Sam Hughes in at centre back. The stats speak for themselves, and yet the same mistakes keep on happening. We can't go on conceding goals from long balls into the box, as we'll need to score at least 3 goals a game just to get draws at this rate. The best managers are ruthless ones when needed. It's always difficult when an assistant becomes a manager of the same team because they usually have a closer relationship with the players. Is his perceived loyalty holding him back?

I think it's difficult for him to be dropping players with how threadbare we are at the moment. As you say it would have been good to see Killock in at RB last night but Macca sees the lads day in day out and didn't pick him for whatever reason. When we were close to full strength a few months ago I remember Akintunde saying he knows if he doesn't perform he'll be dropped and someone will be in his place for the next game. I think Macca is capable of dropping players when needed he just can't at the moment.

The sooner we get some players back fit, the better. Then we'll see if he has what it takes. I could suggest the first candidate for dropping, but I'd get accused of "being 14", "never having played football", "not being a proper fan", "not being a fan long enough", etc, etc

This is Macca's first season in management and no doubt will have learnt a hell of a lot in how to deal with players etc. With a young squad I think you have to keep relentlessly positive and back your players but he ain't stupid and I imagine we will see 4 or 5 players leave in the summer and the same amount coming in. I would hope that he has learnt that we can't rely on just 2 strikers all season.

Once these players get back from injury, we'll hopefully have more competition for places. Macca knows what team he puts out as he works with the same players every week. Hughes needs to be back in the centre and put Killock at right back. Hopefully Jon McCarthy will learn this based on the stats.
