Is there any way of us owners knowing who they have shortlisted on Wednesday for the job?

In a time when the board are accused of being amateur that would not be a very professional thing to do would it?

Probably not.
There will likely be applicants who are currently employed elsewhere. They wouldn't want it to become public that they'd applied. Confidentiality and all that. So we'll have to be patient and wait.

All CFU members should know everything, after all they are the owners.

But would these CFU members actually KNOW these applicants to be able to form any kind of sensible judgement without being involved in the interviews? Any comments by these CFU members would surely not be all that valuable or useful! Let the elected and appointed Board do its best and await the outcome.

Steve Davis is interested in the position

Steve Davis is interested in the position Another that ticks all the boxes for the position as per the job description. Local, is highly regarded as a coach and developing younger players as per his time at Nantwich and the Alex. Went sour with Orient but they were in a right mess when he took the job anyway. But he knows this level and the level below. All depends on affordability with him and obviously whether he's officially applied for the role.

No, YOU (and a fair few others) have zero confidence in the board. To be honest I half suspect going on stuff you've said on here and old DC over the years that it doesn't matter who is on the board, you'd still have a proper good moan about them. I have confidence in a few of them that they know and understand what needs to be done with this next managerial appointment, only time will tell I suppose

Steve Davis would be very interesting. His Nantwich team played some superb football, and his Crewe team were reasonable also.

I had no problem with board members until recently. Stop defending the people that have messed up this club. Fortunately I think we will come through this, but I have no confidence in this lot. They need to start earning it tonight.

I won't attack the like of DHW or Jeff Banks, lads who were not part of the decision making process last summer.

Why is the shortlist important? We won't be able to vote on who gets the job and no one is expecting that so why bother asking the question?

Won't be Joey Barton - just been appointed Fleetwood manager starting when his betting ban is completed!

Steve Davis would be my pick for the job. Did a decent job on the whole at Crewe. My grandfather is an Alex supporter and he was always of the belief that the assistant manager there always seemed to undermine Davis’ instructions on the touch line. He would have him back at Crewe tomorrow if it was possible. Ticks all the boxes for Chester anyway.

After playing nearly all his career in the North and after managing Northwich, Nantwich and Crewe then I would say that most of his contacts would be the North.

Yes & Leyton Orient employed him as manager despite being based in London.

According to the Dave Powell of Chesterfield local paper, Gary Caldwell has applied.

Yes that was my point exactly to the previous poster. Highlighting why he was unsuccessful down south.

Between Davis and Heath right now for me is we can't get Macauley.
Someone will need to educate us on what Caldwell has done and what he could bring to the club.
